Hopefully, if all goes to plan, we will being getting a new Lab puppy about the end of June.  Molly will be about 18 months old then we will feel this should be about right.  What we havn t decided on is whether a dog or bitch puppy.  Molly is totally sociable with both sexes when we meet other dogs and is usually quite submisive with older dogs and bitches, rolling on her back and licking their mouths before trying to invite any play.  Her best buddies are young female GSD and Dalmation.  Both dogs will probably be neuteured so that shouldn t be a problem,  So, what would be the best mix, 1 of each, or 2 girls.  Any advise appreciated.

I have always had bitches (5) and have never had any problems :)

So long as they know who is in charge then it should be ok.

I had the same feelings as you, when I wanted two dogs.
I have all ways had bitches, but one at a time. But when my new bitch was three years old I decided I wanted another dog, but which sex to choose. After talking to different breeders I decided on having a male, and I have never regretted it for one minute.
My bitch is submissive and I didnt want another bitch to take things off her,get the best bed, or boss her around in any way. So I chose a submissive dog. My dog and bitch are best friends they do everything together, its like they are joined at the hip, or in their case joined at the shoulder. I hope this helps.

Bitches CAN be quarrelsome with each other...its something you won't find out ti;; its too late but many people keep multiple bitches with no problems.If they don't get on then its for life...bitches don't do 'forgive and forget'.
If you have a dog then you are VERY unlikely to have problems in that department but will either have to make arrangements for when the bitch is in season OR have one of them neutered/castrated.
