I havent used it, but have seen them and discussed them.  It depends very much on your breed, its coat, and what you are hoping to acheive.  A lot of groomers are very happy with it as a deshedder, they look to me more likely to be a pro groomers tool than for a pet owner, and definetly not for the show dog.

I was looking at an ad for these yesterday in one of the doggy catalogues and wondered about them - do you think they would take too much of the coat out though?

Hilda - all you need to do to strip the coat off an Aussie, is to enter a Champshow & post off the entry :D :D :D

Hi. I actually have one of these tools and use it occasionally in the salon. I don't find it awfully good on heavy coated breeds and a friend gave it a demo on her Samoyed and it was pretty much useless, but on shorted coated breeds that moult it would probably work fine. Its only got short little teeth so it doesn't go down into the fur very far, to remove a lot of undercoat, even though on the video and websites it looks like it does. So depending on what breed your's is it may or may not work. I think it is very over priced for what it does.
Hope this is some help

Yes Margot, that is very true!!  I was only informed at a show on Sunday by the judge that Cody should not be moulting this time of year and obviously lives in a house with central heating! (which he does not!).  Anyway, thanks Anne, for that info - obviously it's not worth getting one in my case - will just stick with the rake I've got which I find really quite good.

Oops! You didn't tell me that Hilda - maybe that's why Indi didn't do very well  :D - must go out to the kennel now & tell the other 4 that they shouldn't be moulting either!!
