Can anyone give me information on a Breeder of Malti-Poo dogs?  I can only seem to find breeders in Canada and USA.  Any information would be appreciated.

Thers no such breed.They are a cross with a fancy name that is being bred by disreputable people in order to get money. The parents will not be health tested and be poor breed specimans aswell.

Hello, i would be looking for the same thing... they are a breed, bred to make them more inteligent it would be a matise x poodle. and are bred to make the maltise more intleigent. As poodle, 2nd cleverist dog. It should not be a bad bred pup, cause everyone has crosses and have reasons for crossig and this is a reason.
Maybe the maltise crossed with poodle to make it better at agility?? like cocker spaniels, chiuhahus etc, all are.. hope this helps

Why would it make the maltese more intelligent ? if thats the case it may make the poodle more stupid, afterall you dont know which genes will pass on to the pup from each parent ;)

Most pups can run rings round the average owner, and the majority of training problems are because the dog is clever, so why make things harder :D

My trainer says tongue in cheek, and sometimes I feel she is right, that most people would be bestoff with a really stupid dog :D

To be serious intelligence is not likely to be enchanced by cross breeding, and is an excuse used by puyppy farmers to increases sales and production.  by doing these crosses they are often hoping to increase litter size due ot one of the breeds being more proliofic or purely due to hybrid vigour (only works with first crosses) which has been used with some livestock for the table stock.

No good breeder deliberately produces crossbreeds, tyhe dogs homes are full of accidental ones.  Dedicated breeders strive often their whole lives to maintain and improive their breeds,a nd would certainly not waste a good healthy example to pr4oduce crossbreeds of questionable merit for the pet market to attract gullible buyers for something novel.

I originally mis-read the post and thought that they were after a Multi-Poo (well any dog is a Multi-Poo :D :D )

THEY ARE NOT A BREED!!!...they are a cross breed! They are bred by unscupulous money making people and if you are willing to line their pockets then thats up to you!
By breeding 2 pedigrees together you cannot guarantee which genes they will inherit from which parent and any dog that is used to produce these expensive 'mongrels'(and before you all shout I have no problem with mongrels...had tham as a child!) will be a poor breed speciman and have had no health tests.

Who told you all that, abc_lou? It was obviously someone who doesn't know much about how inheritance works!

A mixture of two purebreeds is a crossbreed (no insult intended) not a breed. They can be delightful dogs, but there is absolutely no way of knowing which parent they'll most resemble, and all the pups in the litter are likely to be very different from one another. Crosses are always a gamble.

Besides, many people have terrible problems keeping up with the more intelligent dogs! ;)

The laws of inheritance do not work like, that, all you would get is a cross breed and be expected ot pay top money for the privilege, just because some idiot has come up the idea of using an appealing name to encourage people to buy.

Like someone else said, you'd be better off with a fluffy stuffed dog, or if you really want a living animal go to a local rescue there are dozens of fluffy small dogs needing good homes.

sorry never heard of this cross, is it the latest must have in 'designer dogs'.

I've heard of it,but never seen one. Must be the "latest" designer dog :( I wonder what will be next,a shih-tzu crossed with a bulldog?? A bull-shit perhaps :D

In answer to your question Guest,i dont know of any breeders of this mix,and they would be very hard to find/trace as they cant be registered with the details etc..
But why pay top dollar for a mixed breed when you can pay the same price for a health tested pure bred,without having to take a gamble on wether the mix will turn out how you want and have no genetic probs.

I wouldn't call people who cross pedigree dogs to create expensive stupid named cross breeds in order to make money a breeder...a few other choice names but not a breeder!!
