Topic Other Boards / Foo / New cooker smell....

My son has just bought a new electric cooker. He says that the oven is stinking ;) Does anyone know of something that will help get rid of the smell?

I could be wrong, but when I got my kitchen done, the instructions suggested putting the oven on at high heat for half an hour to an hour to burn off the smell before placing food in it :)

Clean it with oven cleaner and after a few days using it it should go away.

I have just got a new cooker and the instruction book said to heat it on high for 30 minutes before using.

Sounds like a typical man..........never reads the instruction manual :D

Edited to say - Check the manual before using oven cleaner, I can't use it in mine
