if you are really heavy youve got something to aim for it will give you an incentive but you might just get a nice surprise and youll know if all your starvation through the week is paying off
- By michelled [gb] Date 10.01.05 13:19 UTC
or it may make me think "whats the point, you are a fat cow!!!!" & i will give up!
i dont really care how "heavy" i am,i just want to get back into my size 12 jeans & trousers.....
- By scarymary [gb] Date 10.01.05 13:28 UTC

Hmm pizza and Vodka Lemonade...must be our Northern Diet :D I was telling the girls my beer belly has made me maternal and I feel compelled to nurture it :D
- By ClaireyS Date 10.01.05 12:01 UTC
Im doing good on Carol Vodermanns detox, a whole week without chocolate  (and only one glass of wine - ok so it should have been none but one glass is good for me, its usually a bottle ;) )  All ive lived on is fruit and veg in various states with a few herbs, spices etc thrown in.  Oh, and the occasional bowl of puffed rice with rice milk rice cakes and oat cakes.  just another 3 weeks to go, then back to the weight watchers plan :)  I hope ive lost some weight, ive tried so hard (but havent had time to do any other excercise than walk the dogs - and decorate the bathroom  ) Im off to weightwatchers on Wednesday for a weigh in so fingers crossed :)
- By Spook [gb] Date 10.01.05 12:12 UTC
Okay...having just got off the scales I'm 10st 4lbs. My daughter informed me yesterday that 'Mummy you've got a very fat belly!'  So today I'm going to get serious. Have done some serious dog walking this weekend and this morning. I'm going to do a nazi style shop and search the internet for a decent diet. I'll check out Carols detox :)
Good Luck on wednesdays weigh in! :)
- By ClaireyS Date 10.01.05 12:46 UTC
Carols detox is very fiddly (no processed foods - so everything from scratch  ) but im hoping its going to work because I sooooo over did it at christmas weightwatchers is a good one, you can eat anything you want as long as you keep count.

Good luck :)
- By michelled [gb] Date 10.01.05 13:04 UTC
think CVs seems really complicated, which puts me off!!!! also if im not eating much i need coffee almost dripfed to me to keep me going!
once i trued to do a detox drink from boots, god that was disgusting! gave up after one day!-no choclate is punishment enough!!!!
- By Wolfie [gb] Date 11.01.05 22:41 UTC
That Pizza and Vodka lemonade added 3lb to my weight :(

That'll teach me I suppose :)
- By Wolfie [gb] Date 11.01.05 22:49 UTC
Weighed myself this morning and I'm 9st 12lb.

I want to lose another 8lb to get back to the weight I was before Xmas. Then it's off to the gym, with paramedic support, to tone up the flabby bits :)

- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 08:57 UTC
Morning girls.
Due to Dylans pressure ;) yesterday last night i weighed myself & im in utter utter horror. i thought/hoped id be around 11 1/2 stone prayed that i wouldnt be more than 12.
i am 12 1/2!!!! thats really really bad :(
it also means that i guess at xmas i was around 13 stone cos ive defintally lost some.
im prettey disgusted that im that big cos im comfy in my 14 trousers now (can breathe & everything) & cant believe its that bad :( :( :( :(
i think im carrying most of it on my legs & thighs,as my tummy is starting to look flatter.
im really upset ,but thanks to dylans at least now i can face it & deal with it. however i must have weighed myself 5 times last night & twice this morning :(
really need some moral support now!!!
- By ClaireyS Date 11.01.05 09:58 UTC
Dont worry Michelle, I too was shocked when I was weighed and I was 12 stone 5 pounds it just made me more determined to do something about it.  Ive stuck to my diet all week and its weigh day tomorrow and im praying ive lost something.  If you stick to a sensible diet and exercise regime you can do it - honest :)
- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 10:08 UTC
thanks BB
i just keep telling myself, youve done it once you can do it again! :)
i just feel disgusted with myself!
- By ClaireyS Date 11.01.05 10:17 UTC

- By scarymary [gb] Date 11.01.05 11:49 UTC

- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 11:54 UTC
maybe about a smigen of a pound lighter!!!! & i had a BIG wee before!!!
- By scarymary [gb] Date 11.01.05 11:57 UTC
michelled please dont be disheartend, are you more determined now?
- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 12:15 UTC
maybe....sort of half & half. i do know i HAVE to sort it out now though!!!!!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 11.01.05 12:22 UTC
I would weigh yourself mornings after a wee, as that is when it will be most accurate, but no more than twice a week.  Also get the tape measure out and accurately measure your bust waist, hips thighs and calves (upperarms if you want, but it is too fiddly).  You will be surprised at the inch losss even more than the weight,a dn sometimes find (at particular times of the month etc) that your loosign inches even if weight loss is slowing.  Do this each month.

It is quite a shock when you are done to put the tape to what you started with around your bum and to see all that empty space (I went from 50 inches to 37-38 in hips).
- By Brainless [gb] Date 11.01.05 12:13 UTC
How do you think I felt last march when I realised after not weighing for a couple of years that I was 15 1/2 stone!!!  Think about it your half way there already compared to where I was.

I have put on half a stone over Christmas and am back on the wgaon so to speak since yesterday, so hope next week to have made an inroad into it, and lost it isn a couple of weeks.

Think you could probably ahve lost most of what you want to before the thick winter clothing comes off, revealing a nice slim you for when short sleaves come out :D
- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 12:16 UTC
its scary how it creaps on. i knew i was going to be heavy, but that was a shock!
- By scarymary [gb] Date 11.01.05 12:24 UTC
just think youve probably lost half a stone since christmas you know you can do it,and things can only get better o.k so your abit heaverier than you would have liked but now you know so you can get on with it if you dont like the scales buy yourself a lovely summer dress size 12 and tell yourself you will be in it by may.
- By earl [gb] Date 11.01.05 13:58 UTC
Michelled I completely know where you're coming from.  Last year my cousin asked me to be her bridesmaid this coming June.  The thought of buying / wearing a dress made me feel sick.  I felt that I really had to do something about it or I'd just get heavier and heavier and dread the whole thing even more.  To make it worse, my cousin was about a size 8/10 and has lost loads of weight since getting engaged.  After my summer hols last year I eventually decided that I would have to weigh myself and what a horrible shock I got.  It was much worse than it had ever been in the past - and it had been bad in the past.  I was really, really down about it all, but decided that I absolutely had to do something about it.  I didn't tell any of my family (apart from my husband) and I've lost about two stone since then - yes, I've got lots more to lose, but two stone is two stone.  If I can lose anything, so can you.  We can keep each other motivated.  It's a miserable situation to be in, but once you start losing weight you'll feel much better about yourself and the inches do start shifting quicker than you'd expect.  :)
- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 14:09 UTC
ive defintally GOT to lose two stone!!!!! even if i have to cut one of my legs off!!!!!!!!
- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 14:11 UTC
i sometimes wonder how fat i could get? i always thought it would stabalise at 12st ,nowc i know differently i would probaley be some one who would get fatter & fatter till i exploded!!!!
- By scarymary [gb] Date 11.01.05 14:56 UTC
dont worry you wouldnt let yourself explode i was 15 and a half stone before i did something about it and eventually i lost all the weight and was in size 10 i could never imagine being that weight again at least your doing something about it NOW before it gets that bad. dont chop off a leg who would walk your dogs???
- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 15:02 UTC
i could hop!!! <bg>

this morning i took nellie & flynn for a really fast walk, should take 45mins so i cracked on & did it in half hour. poor nell was knackered (shes got a old injury & pins in her leg).
(tara made it outside the door then i noticed she was hopping in the front. dont know what shes done cant see anything!)

i was quite out of breath so perhaps im not as fit as i thought, going out for a couple of hours stroll (even if it IS over exmoor so quite challenging!) isnt the same as really walking. so i will try to do faster walking from now on & plan walks to go up really sttep hills, not hard where i live
- By kayc [gb] Date 11.01.05 15:33 UTC
Hi michelle, sorry to but in.  You dont need to walk faster, it does no good because you are still covering the same distance.  Running a mile burns the same calories as walking a mile. All you need to do is, at your normal pace walk an extra 1/4 mile per walk this adds up to 1 and 3/4 extra miles per week. Of if you do 2 walks per day it will add up to 3.5 extra miles per week, thats a whopping extra 14 miles per month. Again sorry for butting in but would hate to see you putting in all that effort and not getting any benefit from it. Good luck anyway
- By ClaireyS Date 11.01.05 15:50 UTC
But do you not need to raise your heart rate in order to burn fat ?
- By kayc [gb] Date 11.01.05 16:21 UTC
Not nessessarily. I dont know michelle so I dont know how fit or unfit she is, but as she said she was completely knackered. By this I would assume she has raised her cardio rate too quickly. All this achieves is the heart has to beat faster to circulate the blood and oxygen round the system.  Tt would be better and safer for her to be gentle to begin with. The heart is muscle and surrounded by muscle, she needs to build up the muscle before putting extra strain on it. The longer walk will also build more muscle in her legs and buttocks. Excersising muscle burns more calories than cardio work. Long way round - but healthier and so much safer. Also building the muscle will help keep the weight off.
- By michelled [gb] Date 11.01.05 16:01 UTC
butt in all you like :)
however maybe IF i walk faster i will also get further!!!!
- By scarymary [gb] Date 11.01.05 16:06 UTC
you see the scales have done there job already listen to you talking of all this walking and going uphill faster,i hate the thought of exsercise your better than me !!!!
- By earl [gb] Date 11.01.05 16:55 UTC
What did you do to lose all that weight Dylans and how do you keep it off?

Michelled - if cutting off bodyparts was an option, I'd have got rid the fat ages ago!  :D  The person who develops a miracle anti-fat pill will become a multi-multi millionaire in no time.
- By michelled [gb] Date 13.01.05 09:18 UTC

Well done Michelle, :)
- By scarymary [gb] Date 13.01.05 10:42 UTC
i lost all my weight by cutting out everything bad i mean everything ,never had anything fried at all no crisps,no biscuits looking back it was easy compared to how hard it is now ,because i eat so much when i was 15 and a half stone when i cut everything out the weight just dropped off but now i need to get from 10 stone 8lbs to about 9 and a half im finding it really hard theres not much left i could cut out i already live on salad and veg,no snacking no drinking no chocolate i think the only way ill do any good now is from excersiceing but i really dont fancy that!!!!
- By scarymary [gb] Date 13.01.05 10:44 UTC

- By michelled [gb] Date 13.01.05 11:26 UTC
not really! copable though!!!!!
- By earl [gb] Date 13.01.05 13:54 UTC
Well done Michelle ... what a good start!  :)

Dylans - I think that if I cut out everything then I'd only end up binging every so often and eating everything I can lay my hands on.   The only thing I've completely cut out is chocolate, cos I don't think I'd be able to stop at just a little bit once I got started.  Well done, what an achievement.  You could've left out the bit about it getting more difficult tho!   I'm with you on the exercising bit.  I'm of the opinion that the more you do, the more you need to do to have any benefit.
- By michelled [gb] Date 13.01.05 14:05 UTC
