I have an 8 month old Staffie with loads of energy.

At the moment he is being walked for an hour in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening, is this enough or too little.

My breeder said that we should over walk him but I don't know how long we should take him out for.

He has bundles of energy and runs around the garden the rest of the time.

Thank you :)

This is a little to much. He should get about 5 minutes for every month of life so at 8 months he should be getting about 40 minutes
Try using things like treat balls and kongs ...they will help occupy him and its suprising how they can ware them out.

I thought he was looking a bit Lean!!!!

I'll have to slow things down then......he just seems to have endless amounts of energy and always wants to be outside running around....

Thanks x

At 8 months its not un natural to look lean....its called the leggy teenage stage :d
Let him be a baby!!....and enjoy it...it doesn't last for long!!

Like archer said, mental stimulation goes a long way to tiring out dogs. Often the easiest way to occupy a dog is to take it out and let it run, but for growing dogs this might damage their joints. Short training sessions which make him use his brain followed by a kong/busterball/bone will use a lot more energy than you may think. Staff's are just made of energy, so whatever you do will probably never be enough! ;-)

His mental stimulation at the mo seems to be working out a way to break into the Kitchen so he can "make love" to my in season bitch!!

HE has lots of bones which we stuff with food which he loves so I'll keep on thinking of ways to keep him stimulated!

teach him some fun things like fun searches around the house or different positions or moves.

more exercise isnt the answer as he will just get fitter & fitter, not more tired!
