hi everyone,pleas help me i have an 8 month old gsd male puppy who is dreadful at recall when we are out. if there is another dog he finds it impossible to ignor them and has this overfelming need to play and totally forgets i exist. also i sprained ny ankle just before xmas and have been unable to take fred out for his walks, my husband has been doing it for me and now on two occasions fred has left my husband standing in the field and ran home. this is worrying me know end as he might get run over or himself in botter. i have had some good advise from brainless already but was wondering if anyone else has any sujestions

Brainless has given you really good advice :) It's really important that he isn't let off the lead at all while he is doing this. Lots of practice is needed at home. When you are out with him, get a long lead and practice the recalls on the lead. It will take time and patience, but if you put in a lot of work, he will come good in the end :)

hi daisy, thanks for your advise, will invest in a long lead at home 9 times out of ten he will do what is asked of him.

Do lots of practice on lead in different places and, if possible, when there are other dogs around, so he gets used to distractions. Pups can be very reliable at home or at training classes and then totally deaf when off the lead :)
