Hi All

Well Douglas has his first Show tomorrow, and although he is up to it I must say that I'm feeling a little nervous about this one ;(

He is the first Dog I have ever bought from a Top Kennel and so am anxious to show him well.

If everybody could think about us tomorrow morning from 10 (have a type of Yuri Geller type thing) and wish us luck I would really appreciate it :D

Daft I know but that's what makes Showing so addictive.

Best wishes all and have a great weekend.

Hi Dessie,
Good luck with Douglas, am sure he'll be cracking - just remember deep breaths :D Will be thinking of you both - but when is it ok to stop, would hate to take concentration of just as you get in the ring ;)

Spare some thought for my little girl as well if you can, she is being spayed right as we speak adn i'm a touch anxious to say the least!

Whats Douglas' name by the way - got to think in show names if willing to win!

Good luck again,
All the best, Alex

Hi Alex

I'm sure Cleo will sail through her spaying :D My friend had her Cocker spayed the other day and she is nearly 6. She came through it really well and is running around like nothing happened ;)

We are showing in the morning so concentration from 10:00 until 12:30 would be excellent. But then again Nickie and Daisy are making their debut tomorrow afternoon so concentration for them from 2:00 until 4:00 :D :D

Douglas' posh name is Kyna Charlie Brown :D ;)

Will let you know results tomorrow night; including the Staffie lot ... :D

Give Cleo a big hug from us when you pick her up :D ;)

Best wishes

Keep up the good work though :D

Good luck from me and the not so scruffy buffy, just go in there and enjoy yourself, i was nervous when i showed buffy for the first time being new to cockers and all that, but i have been showing gsds for the past two years at open shows, but because it was a new breed i was entering into, it was a little daunting, plus the breeder was watching!! added stress, anyway let us know how you get on, Diane and Buffy.

Hey Dessie, how did you all get on?
- By Dessie [gb] Date 05.05.02 16:22 UTC
Hi Everybody

Well it wasn't that bad :D

Douglas was 2nd in Minor Puppy which I was very pleased with. There were five in the class and he was the only one that still had puppy coat. The one that won is only a couple of weeks older than him but all her coat was like an adult. Bart won his class and they both got a 3rd in the AV Gundog Classes against 7 other dogs, so not a bad day at all. All your good luck wishes must have got across the channel for us.

Alex - Nickie and Remy won BOB, they also took the Terrier Group and went on to take 5th Best in Show. Not bad aye ...... She was over the moon :D I hope Cleo is running around the place like a mad Staffie after her op.

Good luck those that are Showing tomorrow we will definately be thinking about you.

Best wishes

Oh Dessie, thats really great for both you and Nckie - you must be really happy - damn good for first show!

Unfortunately cleo is being a big fat woose, and just staring at me with big "how could you" eyes! At least she's not going for her stiches, which is a good thing, but generally being pathetic dog, not sooooo unusual though i'm afaid!

Congratulations again! (please give Nickie my best as i have lost her mail address as my account dcsided to spontaneously delete itself yesterday afternoon!)

Hi Melody

Too right I'm pleased the First Show is over and done with. I'll probably start panicking about Souther Counties now :D

Oh the joys of Dog Showing ;)

Well done, you did better than me, but theres always the next show, scruffy buffy seeks revenge, till the next time.

I was going to do southern counties but missed the closing date, i am thinking about doing windsor, so if you are going i might see you there, anyway good luck with douglas for the future, got to go now have doggies to bath, old gsd has skin problems and is scratching herself silly, and buffy just stinks! its those ears, they hold the smell really well, are douglas's ears like that?
- By Dessie [gb] Date 07.05.02 13:05 UTC
Unfortunately will not be going to Windsor but hope to do the Cocker Club Champ Show in Malvern :D

Douglas' ears don't really smell at all. Maybe she has a build up of wax or something. I put a pinch of thornit in my boys ears to help with wax build up.

Good luck in your next show.
- By metpol fan [gb] Date 07.05.02 14:02 UTC
Its not the insides that smell, its where they drag along the floor and sometimes in her food bowl, or what ever else she can find to dunk them in!! i may be going to that show you mention, is it on the 21st of july, its quite a long journey so not sure yet, but another one i might do is the home counties cocker club on the 21st of september, but ive got to get a day off work for that one.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 07.05.02 22:50 UTC
re the dragging of ears in food and wet when it rains, including pee! You could buy a snood to put on when eating, or going for walks when the ground is wet! I have seen them on afghans and cockers. A sleeve of an old jumper would do the trick too I imagine!
