Hi everyone,

Just wondering where you could purchase one of those kits for testing when a bitch is ready to mate, not online though.
And does anyone know if they work? Used them before? We missed last time and want to get it right, but been toying with the idea of the kits, is there any other way of knowing, she moves her tail aside anyway, not even when seh in season, we were told that thats a good sign.
Any information would be most apreciated, shes on day 9 now. and is Cav.

These premate kits are for testing blood samples.  So unless yiu are competent to take blood on a daily basis until the test goes positive you need your vet to do it.  Also the kits come in batches of 10 tests, which is why they ae expensive to ahve done at the vet, as after they are opened there is a limited shelf life, so you end up paying for the 10 even if you only need one or three.

You would start testing on about day 8 on alternate days until it showed ovulation imminent, then retest daily until it shows the bitch has actually ovulated.

With my girls I had to test 3 days running.

So i'd have to go to the vet to get the test kits? Is there any other way of telling?
Because we mated her last time, when her discharge changed from red to yellow, the pair didn't properly tie, but he had produced litters without tieng before. could this be the problem not that we got the time of ovulation wrong? we are using a differnt dog now though.

hi, why don't you try and get a draminski ovulation detector. I bought one a few months back and had 9 pups. The first time my bitch conceived she only had 4 pups!!!! It realy does work.
