I was afraid someone would say that!

You won't be able to travel back home until at least 7 months after the Rabies shot.  Some people give one shot of Rabies vaccine,a dn at the time a month later of taking the blood sample for titre testing give another, so that if the first blood comes back with insufficient you haven't wasted as much time, as if a month has gone by you can take another blood test.

Admin, love your reply :d  Yep, well and truly get the cheque book out.  I have also known people whose dogs have failed the first test! 

We have had a couple of passports done..no probs. Dog needs microchipping. Rabies vaccination, one month later blood test. Tset came back a week later. Dog can travel 6 months after if test ok. It varies from vet to vet. We paid around £125 whcih included everything except Microchip. We were quoted £180 at another vet though. Dogs have travelled wothout probs to belgium and back.

I have just had the Lhasa done and am now waiting for the 6 month period to be over before we can take her out that will be May, it cost £175  but for the Tibetan Mastiff we brought in from America it did not stipulate if the vaccine used was a 1 year or a 2 year on the documents so we have to have her rabies redone in April to continue on from the passport she has

So make sure that the vet stipulates on the lab paperwork the exact vaccine type and code

Can anyone tell me if dogs need a passport to go to the republic of ireland? How does the green star system work?
