Could anybody out there please advise me what is the best time to spay my lab. Is it before her first season or should i wait until afterwards?

My 6 month lab unfortunately just been diagnosed with H.D, would appreciate any advise, currently on Metacam.

Between 12 - 16 weeks post season is the safest time to spay.

Most people here ( including me) would advise waiting until after her 1st season - if you have her done before, apart from not allowing her time to mature, you will not know when her season is due and it is reckoned that half way between seasons is the best time to spay. Sorry to hear she has HD, I don't think Metacam makes any difference to seasons though.

Sorry, my post made no sense! That will teach me to read the thread properly before posting! As someone else has said, half way between seasons
