Hello
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
MY 6mth Staff is into day 11 of her season, I also have an intact 7mth old dog!
I was told that when she went into season he would be an absolute NIGHTMARE for 21 days (or more) so far theres been no such behaviour, in fact he doesnt seem that interested...He has tried to mount her a couple of times but he lost interest when ended up humping her from the wrong end!!!
They are still playing together but are supervised at all times......
Is this normal his lack or interest? Im I speaking too soon or is there a chance he may be gay??? :d

Probably just too young and immature

i thought the same thing with my 2 but believe me when the day is right hell now exactly what to do he didnt show any interest at all infact they used to lie curled up together then one day when she was ready that was it!!!!!!!
Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see.....
What a relief though because I thought it would be a nightmare for the whole period! I think we'll be able to handle a few days of nymphomania!

Dogs mature sexually at different ages. My young fellow was almost 9 months when my bitches were last in season. He didn't have a clue then although his (less physically mature) brother's unspayed live in companion was in season at the same time and she had to be sent to stay with relatives for the duration as bro' was going bonkers. My bitches have just been in season again and this time my young lad knew all about it and howled the place down, although he went to the kennel with the other males until the bitches were through. So you may well have 21 days - or longer - of nightmare next time. :)
No chance!!! She's being spayed asap!!!!
Thanks though I should have known, we all know that men mature mental and physically a lot slower than sophisticated ladies ha!

AAhh bless him, mine has been a pain in the *** lately, 2 yrs old hormones rife, a bitch is in season near us, and he wants to go out every 5 mins, just sits by the back door sniffing, then the odd walk round the garden nose in the air, then comes in and "performes" on his blanket, then over and a sleep then we start all over again.... dont want to get him castrated yet, as he is still maturing, so guess I will have to grin & bear it....any suggestions?

Hairypooch,
Ha! - this is the origin of the saying "a bitch is in season twice a year but a dog is in season all year round!" and some people only have dogs because dogs don't have seasons  Bless him, if he's this bad now imagine what he'd be like if he 'knew what it was all about'
OOhh Dill perish the thought!,our old Lab used to be the same we then got him nuetered still did the "business" on his blanket, but stopped half way through used to give me the look like "why am I doing this?" and walk off.....
BUT have also found out last night he was out again, at the bottom of the garden he has found our family of toads under the garden shed, and keeps sniffing at them, at least it takes his mind off you know what!!
