Hi, I am looking to find the right dog for my Diasy.  I intend to breed from her next year (2006) and am trying to find out how to find him.  I need to ask the right questions, and would love to speak to another breeder of the English Springer Spaniel for advice or any information.  I cannot locate another breeder in my area (Tyne & Wear) or maybe I am looking in the wrong place.  I own another ESS who is 3.5 years old, but Daisy (who I got from Penrith) is 6 months, so on her 3rd season I would hopefully like to get her lined.  I intend to keep one of her pups (if successfull). 

If there is anyone who has got the time to help me, I would be so grateful.  I am in touch with her breeder and will speak to him nearer the time, but I am doing my homework now and learning everthing I need to know.

Either contact her breeder for advice in finding the right dog for her, or the secretary of any of the breed clubs listed at the bottom of the Breed Standard. The clubs will also be the best to advise you what tests to try to eliminate hereditary conditions Daisy (and the stud dog also) will need to have before mating. Specialist eye-testing is a must, as is hip-scoring (which can't be done before she is 12 months old).

There are some good ESS breeders in the NE but you would need to look at pedigrees & be advised by either the breeder of your bitch or an experienced ESS breeder re the suitability
