Has anyone ever been of a one day TTouch course? If so what was it like? I am thinking of asking to go on one for my birthday as we have one quite near us but as i have very been on one before i dont know anything about them.

I haven't done the course but when I spoke to someone who had, it seemed to be as much about speach patterns and gentle massage than anything else.  All part of dog handling and can only be good to calm a dog with soothing voice and hands!

Sounds very interesting, it'd be worth going purely for the experiance.

That link is really intresting val, thanks :). I think i will go as i there is nothing else that i really want and my mom is always say 'but ive got to get you something!' Mind you i am going to crufts just before my birthday so i might see something there. I dont know how much it is but to have a person come into you home and have a one-2-one session is only £35! Thanks for the help.

First off I should say I am in the process of training to be a TTouch practitioner so I am likely biased :) but I would definitely recommend the method. It is not massage - it is more about communication and stimulating the animal's nervous system through touch and leading exercises. It is very calming (for the dogs and people!) and helps the dog to think and act rather than just react. It is also completely positive and nonconfrontational - so good for nervous and aggressive dogs.

Give it a go - make sure it is run by a fully qualified practioner though (P1 or above) as they are the only ones who are allowed to take workshops.

Have fun

ps I should say also that the training courses I have been on at Tilley Farm in Bath (week long) have been fantastic fun - lovely people, dogs and other animals. If the course you are looking at is at Tilley Farm it will be great! (Will probably be great wherever it is - who is running it?).

I think that is going to be really good. I decided that i wanted to learn how to do it ages ago after reading a series of books about a horse farm that rescues and helps to heal damaged horses or horses that have problems with traveling etc.. And the girl used TTouch, join up and natural herbs and stuff. And the more i read the more i wanted to lean how to do it. Then i looked on the internet i found that the nearest one to me is in birmingham and is run by a lady called Alison knights P1. What age dog do you recomed me bringing? I have two 22 weeks old pups who are very well behaved but we also have a seven year old and they are all Soft coated wheaten terrier.

Excellent - you'll enjoy it. You can take dogs of any age really - the pups will be fine with it but depending on how lively they are you may find your older dog easier to practice on!

Have a great day.
