A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I went window shopping in Harrods. It was my first visit, so we went everywhere, and ended up in the pet department, as you do. I was amazed to see rabbits selling for £50 but completely horrified to see Poodle puppies for sale behind a huge glass barrier!!! No mother, nothing, just a bed, water, and a few rubber toys. They were all asleep, I assume the glass provided some soundproofing against the racket of customers doing Christmas shopping. The pups must have been about 10-12 weeks old. I don't know why I was so shocked, I suppose I just didn't expect to see puppies for sale in a shop, let alone Harrods.

Phew, got that off my chest at last.

Hi Claire,

I think it's pretty disgusting myself, especially since a store like Harrods has absolutely no need to sell live animals of any species.

Claire

If they were the same ones I saw on Dec 10 they were actually Bichons not poodles although very ppor examples and I would suggest they were well over twelve weeks.  It's disgusting.

My boyfriend was working opposite Harrods Christmas week, he popped in to see if they had puppies and there was a sign up saying they werent selling puppies over christmas - as if that makes it ok to sell them the rest of the year :(

Its been discussed on here before, the last time I went in they were selling English Springers which looked at least 4 months old :(

Hi,

Golden Retriever puppies have been sold from the store with a price tag £1000
before now,no pedigree given or where they disclose where they come from :-(
Obviously some breeder from somewhere is making money to sell to such stores.
Some people think buying a pup from Harrods is a *must have whatever it costs* unfortunately :-(

Hi
I have also seen puppies for sale in Harrods and it breaks my heart.  There is no excuse for it at all I can't help thinking about all the time they are on their own behind the glass when the store is closed poor things.  The worse thing is that people actually by them and just encourage the store and stores like this to keep on selling them it is really shocking.
