As a long haired rottweiler as i have seen one advertised and was puzzled, I guess there just a breed fault or a cross. The things people breed to make money!

Long coats are usually a result of a recessive gene, so breeders might well not have bred deliberately for long coats, just had some turn up in a litter. It's something that occurs in lots of breeds.
