Could be a Japanese type Akita, they tend to be lighter built, similar head but more "oriental" expression. Or - as Dawn said - a bad example of an Akita.

ajolie tried that address but all i get are german shepherd. Its deffinitly a breed. Ive seen poeple with a few of these dogs all together and all look identical. If they are poor breed akitas theyve done a good job doing it. lol. I knew I should have gone over and asked the owner.

Con't think it could be an american eskimo...they're supposed to be between 9 and 19 inches so no where near the size of an akita.
I would also suggest a poorly bred akita...white has become very popular I believe and so some people will be breeding for colour alone rather than confirmation

have you seen the movie 'the cell'? There's a dog in it which is apparantly an albino german shepherd, although I could have sworn it looked more like an akita. It's probably highly unlikely that it's an albino shepherd tho, as I imagine they're quite rare!! (especially as you've seen several about!!!)

I really do like the Japanes Type Akita, much more than the moe Mastiff type US version.

To me they look much more like the Shiba.  I met a lovely one when we were both waiting for eye testing at Crufts.  This bitch was having a great time with my Elkhound youngster making freinds,a nd we met up again when we were both on the coach for St Pats show.

They seem to have a mcuh gentler expression.

That does sound like a very badly bred Akita, or a tweenie (cross between the Akita Inu and the Great Japanese Dog) where you lose bone.  Whichever, its a shame someone failed to take the time, effort and money to get a mating done properly with matched dogs.

I have seen dogs that fit that disciption too Sharon. One lives not far from us. They are Akitas. Because they are white, they do look smaller than the normal Pied type Akita. Its funny how the colour makes a difference.

I think its as xxoiprocsxx said. Closest breed I can think of is an Akita, maybe it is just the colour that makes the difference.
