hello, just wanted some advise ! as some of you may know my dog is pregnant, she is now 5 weeks, but from about 5 am this morning she has been vomiting, just yellow/whiteish vomit and her breathing is quite noisy (like she breathed in some of the sick ?) anyway been to my vet and he thinks it is just morning sickness and obviously can't give her any anti-emetic because of her condtion, her tempreture is normal and heart/chest is clear. She is now very miserable and i am worring what effect this might have on the puppies ?? is it normal ?? has anyone else experienced these types of problems ?? as a 1st timer i would be very grateful of any help !!

Quite normal, it is more like indigestion, hearburn than morning sickness. Her organs are being squeezed, and makes her feel sick.

are you still feeding her all in one meal. Now is the time to give her meals like a puppy, say 3 or 4 a day. You may find she will refuse to eat one minute, and be ready for food in an hour or two, so splitting meals helps with this too. Make sure she has plenty of fluids, but I would hazard a guess, that there isn't a huge volume of sick, it is mostly froth and bile!

Welcome to the worry that is breeding puppies. :D

Hello Brainless!
yes it is small amounts of bile, and very frothy, she won't eat until around 12pm but i am feeding her small but often meals, i've just given her a small amount of chicken and rice and she has kept that down - for the moment !
I currently have her on hills performance and i am starting to add in puppy but she goes off dried food so quickly and i don't really want to introduce her to a new food, i just hope she is getting enough ? i am starting to feel bad for putting her through all this !

Sounds very normal to me. Puppies are little parasites, they will get all they need from their Mum, unless she is severly undernourished!

Hi it's totally normal, Carina has only just stopped being sick these last few days and she's got a week to go. I start feeding my dogs meat at around 5 weeks.

Good luck and hope that everything goes well.

i wouldnt worry too much at the minute about making her a fussy eater, she needs to eat so for a while id cater to her, add a bit of tinned, and i agree with the others, break it into more ,smaller meals, good luck with it all-its hard watching them go through all the changes isnt it
