Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / reintroducing normal food after illness

Our 10 week old puppy had a bout of sickness and diarrhoea on New Years Day. We don't know why. She was bright and perky and not subdued so I didn't call a vet. I followed guidelines from a previous thread on this board (thanks - really helpful) - giving small amounts of boiled water every hour then several hours later small meals of boiled chicken and rice and a bit of yoghurt. She did not vomit again and doesn't have diarrhoea any more. I am still feeding her chicken and rice and she's wolfing it down. How long should I wait before introducing her normal food?

I would think you should be ok now. Put a little of her usual food in with some rice for a couple of meals before you go right back to just normal and see how it goes. Young puppies have a horrible habit of experimenting with their mouths and swallow all sorts of (to us) silly things! It's part of growing up I'm afraid!
