my flat coat bitch is 18 months and just had her 3 rd heat, despite my best attempts she mated with my stud dog,  i was going to mate her at her next season in april/may but she had other ideas.  She had finished the season or so i thought but now 3 weeks on i feel she may be pregnant although she did mate quite late in the season day 22, usually shes completely off after day 20.   how soon usually will i know if shes taken? and with her cycle being every 18weeks will she still come in once the pups are weaned or wait till shes completely back on track?
my bitch is very mature for her age and of good size for the breed which is why ive let her keep the pregnancy if she is pregnant.

You could always get her scanned at 4 weeks.  That would tell you one way or another.

The Society Code of Ethics recommend that Flatcoats are not bred from at under 2 years of age.

Oh dear , oh dear.   (.T.O.S.....Admin??)

Sorry, I really can't let this pass!!!   If you say you have a 'stud dog' you surely must have the means to keep bitches separate from dogs???     Keeping a stud dog involves a very high degree of responsibility to  your own dogs, to visiting bitches and their owners, and most of all to the quality of the breed itself.

Assuming both dogs have all the relevant health checks (how many times has this been written on this board??) , if your bitch came from a reputable breeder,  you probably also have breeding restrictions on her.

Please join so we can help you get over this.

I have to agree with what Jo says.  There was a lot I felt like saying in my original post but declined to do so.  I appreciate that accidents can and do happen but it is not fair on the bitch to breed from her so young.

Anybody who owns both dogs and bitches should have the facilities to keep them apart.
You should contact the breeder of your bitch pronto and find out what restrictions if any are on your bitch.  However you might find that because the bitch is under 2 that the breeder refuses to lift them.

If I am correct there is a "morning after" injection.  I know someone who had the same problem and she took the bitch to the vet (you have to leave at least 36 hours for it to work) and stopped the problem.

I am not having "a go" but it does concern me that the bitch is only 18 months old.

I can only echo the replies here. I would urge you to talk asap to the breeder of your bitch, and seek their guidance.
There is a "morning after" injection, which could have been adminstered, and a call to the vet would have allowed you to make the decision not to allow this pregnancy to go ahead. In any responsible breeding situation it is up to the owner to plan a litter, not for "nature to take a course", and the owner to follow it.
I would assume that you will be planning to get your dog and bitches eyes tested and their hips scored once the puppies are here? You must point out that neither has been done if they aren't to any potential purchaser, of one of the puppies.
Any experienced breeder will tell you that a bitch can mate and can concieve late into her season. If your stud dog is an experienced dog then you should have known this, and you should have had facilities to keep them apart.
Perhaps you should join this group guest and then we could help in any way we can. I see you have already been in contact and had a reply.
If we seem critical, it is because we have the welfare of the breed at heart, but we also want to help you sort out this and hopefully prevent it happening again.
