I drive a Mondeo saloon and as some of you knoe I wanted to change to a 4x4 and had decided on a Defender well its going to be at least a year before I can afford it.
I was out the other day and had Abby in the back strapped in with her car harness when I had to break suddenly Abby fell off the seat into the footwell and struggled to right herself. So I decided I need to change my car asap I went to have a look at some 4x4s I didnt like driving the Shogunn,I like the Maverick last time I looked but dont think I will be able to fit a whole lot in the boot when Abby is in it, to get to the point I drove a Vauxhall Frontea(sp) really like it not new but in excellent condition low milage lots of space and within budget I just want others opinions on them as OH is useless when it comes to cars I probably know as much as him.
Thanks

A friend of mine has one and thinks it great. Good both on and off road.

I've finally found my 90. Getting on a bit but in lovely condition. Trouble is it's in full "County" spec including cloth seats and carpets! Not ideal but we cant have everything! At least it has mud tires!

Now Im jealous I saw a  Defender 110 showed it to OH who said it looked like a tank that coming from someone who drives an MX5 midlife crisis me thinks.
Thank you for your reply John  looks like I will have to wait a little bit longer to get a Defender the kids are going to be gutted well at least I will be able to take it off road.

I find the 110 a bit ponderous, but then, with all the people and dogs we get in and on! 2 adults in the front 10 in the back, anything up to 5 Labradors and 2 springers inside, 3 children on the roof and Harry standing on the spare wheel holding the ladder! (On the road we don't allow children on the roof! ;) )

You know why the front wings have rounded fronts? It's for streamlining!
How does a landrover owner clean the inside? With a hosepipe!

I know someone who has a vauxhall frontera and they adore it. It easily holds the family which consist of; the dad (6ft4) the mom, three boys 15,12 and 7, two yellow labs and a jack russell. They go off road too as the lads go scrambling (on motorbikes) and I know it pulls a trailer with the bikes on board too.  And they find it excellent.

I would think so. I've never seen any of them following the car on a bus ;)

we have a frontera estate (LWB) & it's great. we can easily fit me & hubby in with 2 kids & dog & all our bits & pieces when we go away. It is good for shopping as I have cages in my estate car & so usually use the frontera ~ it also tows our caravan with ease!

I know someone with a frontera estate, kids (and usually friends), two BIG dogs, hawks, etc.  its the best they've had, it goes shopping, shooting, hawking, gameshows etc.- on road/off road. Seats could be softer but they're easily cleaned  ;)

A friend of ours has the Frontera, it's a lovely one, they waited til they found the right one.
The big endorsement is he's a mechanic (yes I know a vauxhall one ;) )and this one has been VERY reliable, just right for
towing their caravan, their big OES (wrong no plate though -LAB) and generally anything else they need it for.

Just make sure when the CAM belt/timing belt was done last - I'm not sure with Frontera's when they need doing
as if this goes it's VERY expensive to fix the engine!
