We have a 15 year old female who is currently having problems breathing due to a collapsing trachea....I had never heard of this, does anyone have any info regarding this problem?

Thanks,

Lynn

What breed have you got?

Usually affects toy and small breeds, BUT in larger breeds like Afghans and Irish Setters can sometimes be confused with Laryngeal Paralysis.  LP is prevelant in Afghans and some others.  Tracheal collapse can sometimes be helped by a op to insert rings into the windpipe to releave the dogs breathing but really symptoms of both problems are similar.  Its BIG surgery and a 14yr old dog may not do well afterwards.
