how do you get your dog into crufts?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 21.12.04 07:57 UTC
The dog needs to qualify by winning certain positions (1st, 2nd or 3rd) in certain classes at certain other shows throughout the previous year.

As Jg says you have to qualify your dog by winning certain awards at shows during the year.A stud book number gives you lifetime qualification.
You then enter the show the same as any other...by paying your fees etc.

Just out of interest, how do you get a stud book number ?
- By Moonmaiden Date 21.12.04 14:11 UTC
CC Res CC JW(?)
Ob CC Res Ob CC
WT CC, Res WT CC

& winning 1st to 3rd in limit and open in breeds in band E
STUD BOOK BAND E

Hound Group: Afghan Hound, Whippet

Gundog Group: Irish Setter, Retriever (Flat Coated), Retriever (Golden), Retriever (Labrador), Spaniel (Cocker),
Weimaraner.

Terrier Group: Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Pastoral Group: Bearded Collie, Border Collie, Shetland Sheepdog

Working Group: Boxer, Dobermann, Great Dane, Rottweiler

Toy Group: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

I don't know about Bloodhound WT CC's & Res CC's nor Agility CC's & res CC's but would think they get Stud book numbers s well

For breeds not in the E band there are bands A to D which I'm sure someone will know with out me having to look in the red book

thanks for that moonmaiden, it was Irish Setters that I was interested in so that just confirmed it for me :)

MM, for the bloodhound working trial class at Crufts, you qualify by getting  placed at a championship trial (ie 1st, 2nd or 3rd) but can obviously only enter the WT class :)

Do they get a stud book no for their CC & Res CC's like WT & Ob Dogs ?
- By Polly [gb] Date 22.12.04 00:36 UTC
I thought I saw something about having a junior warrant or show certificate of merit alos got you a stud book number these days. I know you can qualify by winning Best of Breed at a premier open show.

BIS, RBIS and BPIS at open shows qualify for Crufts - Junior Warrants do too as you get your stud book number.  Show certificates of Merit don't.
