Just a quick Q, Tally has a bit of a tummy upset, what do people tend to do with their dogs? is there anything you give them that helps make things better? we didnt give her any breakfast his morning and just keeping her warm and quiet.  dont want to take her to the vets for a course of antibiotics if it will clear up on its own in 24 hours...but would be interested in what other people do with theirs..
thanks

I`d withhold food till see how it goes. For adults 24hrs & for pup 12hrs., if its bad would give boiled boneless chicken & rice, if not then back to normal diet. Would also add some live natural youghurt. A matter of wait & see how its going to go, no magic wand I`m afraid :)

edit just to say if its worse after 24hrs still withold food but always have water available, I put some honey in their water as well.

Thanks Christine, I always thought to withdraw food..but never knew if this was what other people did/if it was the right thing to do!. She does have lots of water available, but she is tired..so might bob some honey in her water for energy later.  she was in kennels last week and we thought she had just been fed too much....poor little mite!

Could be anything really, but I should have added I`d also take temperature & if it`s a pup/youngster I`d be speaking to the vet if it hadn`t cleared up after 36hrs or started getting worse & maybe 2 dys for adult dog.
For tummy bugs its much the same as ourselves when we have one, we don`t eat :)

Hi,

Remember me? Work at the same place? :D

I'm wondering if it's something going around as one of mine has been quite poorly for the last couple of days. We had him at the vets on Saturday night because he was obviously in some discomfort. We didn't feed him at all on Sunday and then chicken and brown rice yesterday - same will be given today. I've got some probiotics for his water as live yoghurt is only any good if you know your dog is lactose tolerant ;)

And Hudson now seems to have gone down with the same thing :( He is on a 24 hour starve at the moment ..

hey!!..she was starving yesterday!!! poor thing...we gave her a very small breakfast this morning..after she spent the night on our bed coz we both felt sorry for her!!! so she had a tiny bit of her usual burns lamb and rice with some live yog, hubby is going home at lunch to give her a little more and see how she is.....she loves yogurt!!!!!

looks like there might be something nasty going around, Tally was in kennels for 3 days last week..so must have picked it up then I am assuming...

Well I hope she feels better soon!

We had a Malamute on the bed on Saturday night too ;) Not much room for us though! He's back to the floor now :)
