Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / boarding kennels for rottweilers
- By Guest [gb] Date 20.12.04 22:40 UTC
hello
please ,could anyone reccomend a top quality boarding kennel/s that have experience of rottweilers,I have a 4 yr old boy named nero,he is big ,bouncy and very, very friendly. With regret I have to go away for a week soon and we have never been apart.I live in Derbyshire so anywhere near derbyshire/notts would be a bonus. All the kennels I have rung so far do not accept rottweilers or have had no experience so I am a little dubious.

I do hope someone can help many thanks

Go look at the kennels Hayley, don't just ring and ask.  Ring for opening hours then turn up unannounced, look round and get a feeling for the place, see whether they ask YOU what type of dog you have BEFORE you have to tell them.  Its one of the first things we always ask first, breed and age.

You could try Tomlinsons B.K. They are based in the Derby/notts area (sorry can't remember where exactly.  Eastern Counties Rottweiler Club have their shows there and I am pretty certain they board Rottweilers.  If you email the Club they should be able to give you the number. Its also worth going along and taking a look. I have been to the kennels a few times and have found them to be very clean and they have large areas for the dogs.

I have a dobermann and we went away in the summer, I got in touch with a company called "Petsitters" and they recommended someone to look after my boy.  They actually gave me three numbers and two of these ladies had both previously owned dobermanns.  I preferred putting him in a home with someone rather than a kennel.  If you search on the internet (which is what I did), then I am sure you will find something.  The lady I use is a dog walker as well.  I live in Kent, but I am sure there must be similar things in other areas.
