I am looking after my friends bitch, she has had to go away unfortunately as she had a family emergency(due back on monday.she is very familier with me and i'm the only person she felt comfortable leaving her with)she is due in the next week ,i have read extensively on the subject over the last few years(just out of interest)and have a dog of my own,but just in case i wondered if theres anywhere online i can read a bit more or anyone can offer me any extra advice, she has gone off her food,is sleeping alot, and nesting a little, she is panting too but i think thats more when she moves around as shes HUGE,I had made her a whelping room before she arrived(all disinfected, pig rail etc) in a large cupboard(with door off)in the living room and her bed is in there and have some supplies in and a checklist(just in case)and have vets number  in case of emergency,She will eat the odd titbit from my hand is drinking well and trying a teeny amount of food,so i wondered if it is advisable to give her a little milk and glucose to keep her energy up,the books i do have are a little old.i just want to make sure shes comfortable and happy(her last litter was 8 pups,so must admit i'm hoping it won't happen while shes here as its a bit daunting)sorry the post is so long and thankyou in advance,oh,she is a bull terrier and i personally think she is a little overweight!!

All I can say is - good luck - and keep your friend's vet's no close by in case you feel you need it - and hope your friend gets back early on Monday!

Good luck, we've had litters before and have just gone through 2 of the worst whelps ever.  one resulting in a c-section and loss of pups 3 days later.

I hopy your friend gets back in time!

Good luck
