I'm thinking of buying a new colour printer but have no idea which model to go for - there's just so many on the market now.
As well as the usual run-of-the-mill printing I would want one that prints good quality photos.
Can anyone recommend a good one or suggest what technical features I should look for ?  I'm prepared to spend about £100.

I have a Dell all in one - it scans and prints and can be used as a fax too- but Ive had numerous problems with it.
:(

Personally I'd stick with a Hewlett Packard model- very reliable and the ink cartridges are easy to get hold of etc.

We've had our Hewlett Packard for a couple of years and it's been great.  The print quality is excellent, although you can get much better ones now for less money.

For the last few years, I've always had Epson's- the print quality is really good and I've never had any bother with them

I've got an epson stylus photo 915 for doing 'good' pics,I don't run it off the computer just load my cards into it,but you can connect it of course, if you choose.
Connected to the computer for letters etc. I have lexmark 3200.
I refil my lexmark cartridges,no problems so far, but I use the recommended cartridges for the epson photos etc.
I'm pleased with both and I've had the epson over a year, the lexmark over 3years now and no problems at all.
Jacqueline :)

PC Advisor have reviewed photo printers this month.  Their Best Buy is the HP Photosmart 8150 which is about £169 plus vat.  Over your stated budget BUT the Black ink is quoted as £28 ( about 800 pages) and the coloured ink £30 (about 450 pages).

Inks are the most expensive item with printers and it is often worth paying a little more for the printer if the ink is less (does that make sense).

Their recommended buy is the Canon Pixma IP3000 which is £89 (black £10 - 420 pages )(colours £8 x 3 - 280 pages)

I have a HP deskjet 916c and have no complaints about it :D  My bro and my sis both have HP photosmarts and apart from being really slow compared to mine I find that mine prints better photos!!!! and text printing is brilliant.  The cartridges are very expensive (same ones as photosmart) but I keep cost down by refilling them with coloured ink and black ink from ALDI (@£6 a pack :) )  They take a few refillings before I have to buy new cartridges :D

You can get refills from http://www.7dayshop.com

- By Robert K Date 18.12.04 18:15 UTC
I supported our local shop and they formatted my memory card :(  shame they did it before printing the photo's, fortunately they were'n important pics :)
- By Dill [gb] Date 19.12.04 01:23 UTC
sorry michelled,
can't say the local camera shops could be trusted with anything important.  To date they have lost the tape we made of our prem baby (letter to head office, top man enabled us to get them interested in finding it ;) )  and my mums photos (people she will probably never see alive again) my M in Laws photos, and my friends photos (never returned) not to mention the number of times we've had photos from someone elses film   have to say they don't fill me with confidence :(
- By michelled [gb] Date 20.12.04 13:48 UTC

- By michelled [gb] Date 20.12.04 13:49 UTC
