Can anyone help me out.

I`ve been asked by my sister to recommend some good show quality staffie breeders in the South West.  I personally work and show huskies so don`t know much about the terrier group. She already owns a male neutered staffie but this was bought from a pet breeder.  She therefore knows all about the breed characteristics etc.

Unlike our breed club there appears to be loads of staffie breed clubs on the internet.  I was hoping someone could post a bit about the breed i.e. are there any distinct "types" of staffie, like we do with the siberians? It would really be useful if people could PM me with examples of which breeders are typical of which "type" if that makes sense. I can then relay the information on to my non-internet using sister!

I know all the other usual things to look for like clear eyes, hipscores etc.  Are there any other tests that are done i.e elbow scores or anything I should be aware of for this breed???

Many thanks

Liz

Main testing is eyes - not so many breeders tend to hipscore
When you refer to types there are heavier more bully types and leaner athletic types- both types should fit the standard with regards to height and weight. Just depends which you personally prefer :)
Both types can be found in the ring

i agree with previous poster, there are 2 types of staff and both are showable, but they should all have the correct ears, tail teeth etc, its just that there are heavier or lighter versions, also some breeders are head mad, the staff is a head breed, but you want balance!  imo !!!
