I always find that raw tripe is good I have not known a dog turn their nose up at it and it is good for bodying up a dog as well. Trying to please a dog at feed times is not always good. Put a bowl of food down and if they dont eat it take it away. When she is hungry she will eat!

hi,
one of my sibes is a funny eater too, eats next to nothing and also looks a bit too thin, however he is perfectly happy and healthy, he runs on my 2 dog team and is doing well.  my advice would be to stick to one type of food, and not pander to her or you will make the situation worse!
if you want to feed kibble get a very good high quality energy dense working dog food, not some cheap rubbish from the supermarket  a lot of people i know feed skinners field and trial superior or eaglepack and add a small amount of raw meat to it, tripe and raw lamb are good for putting on weight and you cold add warm water to make the biscuits more appealing.  a friend of mine has been using corn oil on her kibble to get extra weight on her bitch.
if you want to feed wet try naturediet, comes in pouches or in frozen packs.  i would stop feeding the things you are feeding as it is not a balanced diet, stick to one thing, she will eat when she is hungry, providing she is not ill she will not intentionally starve herself.
my boy picks at his food and rarely eats a full meal but as i say he is very happy and healthy, just not a big eater!
you may want to consider giving her malted kelp from dorwest herbs as this can increase appetite, but remember sibes are designed to be very economical and need a lot less food than you might think.  when mine were on kibble, my biggest boy who is about 25ish kg would only be having about 200grms of kibble per day.  sibes should not carry excess weight, you should be able to feel her ribs quite easily and should see just a glimpse of the last few.  she may just be a very slender girl, but you may find her appetite increases as she matures, i am still waiting for this and my boy is just over 2!
what ever you decide to feed, feed her at set times and offer her the food without a fuss, leave it for 15 minutes without coaxing her or speaking to her, if she is not eating remove it and offer her nothing else until her next meal time, this normally does the trick with faddy eaters.
i know it is hard, but try not to worry!  i HTH but feel free to email me if you want any more advice.  where abouts are you?  are there no experienced sibe people nearby who could look at her and give an informed opinion on her weight and condition?

? do you work in sibe rescue ?
if so then we have met a ring craft  as to ur question about any one near me with sibe knowledge no hon there is no one near to me
my girl is very happy very lively is bouncing around all the time i went to a rally a few weeks back and there i saw quite a few sibes that i would say did look smaller than her its just that when i take both my sibes out i have had comments made about her weight and this got me worrying cos my boy is a really solid lad but ive tried virtually every thing poss to feed her she will not eat anything raw ive even tried cooked mince she stuck her nose in the air wont eat tripe i ahve tried both from pet shop and butchers have had her on james wellbeloved didnt like that one of my friends game me some ukenuba didnt like that
the ox heart that i feed them both i iether roast it or boil it cos there loads of fat in it and its believe it or not virtually the same taste as roast beef  like i said thought she,s 12 mths old in jan and has just had a phantom pregnancy but she,s over that now i am hoping to race her when she is older may thats the sort of exercise she needs to give her appitite a boost.
thanks for your suggestions i will try them and see what happens
                       thanx again angie

hi angie,
yes it is me from ringcraft and believe me you have nothing to worry about your bitch as i had a look at her and she is not thin or underweight at all!  she really does not need to put weight on.  stop worrying, she is fine!  most people dont know what a siberian looks like and often get them confused with the heavier boned freighting dogs, the amount of people who have seen my very large over tall siberian and commented on how small he is is unbelivable!
your boy is rather large for his age and is of a much heavier bone and build and of course she will look different from him, she is meant to!
dont worry about her, try being a bit more firm with her diet and stop fussing and giving her lots of different things.  sibes are very intelligent and she has got you very well trained!  she knows that if she turns her nose up at something then you will just start making her more and more tasty and tempting things!
if all she is eating is heart, kidney and chicken then that is really not a balanced diet and you run the risk of her developing dietary related problems.
hopefully i will see you at ringcraft soon and i will have another look at her, but unless she has lost a great deal of weight in the last few weeks i really dont think you have anything to worry about,

Dont the iditorod(sp?) reccomend eaglepack?I know a top racer feeds this to his dogs.

I have recently changed from autarky to eagle and the change in overall condition is already apparent, even tho my dogs only get a small amount of kibble, the rest is raw or homecooked.

Angie i wish you the best of luck with your girl,it seems she wont eat any of the fattening foods that most folk feed to bulk up their dogs :( And i thought my guys were the only dogs in the world who wont touch tripe

I cant remember if you said you had tried lamb breast(lamb flaps)? if not give those a try, they're great for putting weight on.
I used to have an underweight dog, well in my eyes he was! Some people said he was fine and others said he looked anorexic, you have to live with your girl and if you think she is too skinny then continue trying to get the weight on but try to stop adding so many different things or else she will get worse and worse until she wont eat anything :(
As scratchy suggested get her on to a super premium energy dense kibble and add maybe one or two body building foods and go from there.

good luck and keep us updated :)

p.s check out my post on the health board about "royal jelly"
