itook Lola to the vets last week for a blood test ,as she is still Scenting a lot ,i think a lot of these problems are behavioural, but as she seems to have quite a lot of male traits ,the vet thought they would take blood tests & also look for raised Testerone levels !poor little mite hated it all ,i waited to hear the results today ,only to be asked to take her back to have more blood taken as they said they think the samples must have been damaged because the results do not match her profile ????? i asked what she meant by that ,she then said we have had some very strange results ,back ,but we dont think they are right !!& we would prefer to do more tests than scare you !!!!well i told her she was scaring me now anyway ,i asked if these results were not good news & she said no they were not but they dont think they are hers ....does anyone know what they are talking about ,i am afraid i did not feel too confident with this vet first time around ,they even had to ask me to help to calm Lola down for the blood test as she was NOT sitting still for anyone ,it took the three of us & a muzzle before they could take blood ,now i have to wait until thursday worrying myself ,before i know the outcome ,can anyone help ,do you know what they are talking about ? Regards Sue T xx

Do you think that they have mixed Lola's results up with another dog possibly?

As Mel says! Sounds they may have got samples mixed up!

Sounds like the vet has scared you half to death. Could they not have said the results are inconclusive and they need more blood. Does sound like the tests have been mixed up though. You'll probably find the real test results are fine.
But if you're not happy (and you're obviously not) change vets. They should be treating you and your dog with every consideration.

I think it's most likely a case that the results have been mixed up at the lab. With our vets, if the results aren't as expected (and are quite clearly wrong) they merely say that the results were inconclusive and that they need to take a new sample.
Some dogs do get very worked up when blood tests are done and the owners presence tends to calm them down a lot more than a couple of people they don't know.

Hi Everyone ,i am so grateful for you all replying ,i am praying that what you have all suggested is right ,that they have got the results mixed up ! i shall know tomorrow ,i am not a drama queen (well not often anyway!! ) i just do not understand why she said what she did ,my blood ran cold ,& to be honest she seemed really quite confused !, i went to them at my wits end with this constant scenting that Lola still seems to do !( i was told it could be a urinary tract problem !) she also is still rubbing herself on the carpet ! she is according to all info i can find classed as a "dominant female "!) i am not sure if anyone remembers when we first rescued her ,she was called "Jake " her former owners thought she was a boy " she looks like a little girl ,just wondered if any of this has any relevance ? i am so clutching at straws here ! i just want her to be well ,many thanks for taking time out to help ,it means a lot ,Love Sue T xx

well you were all right !they had mixed up the blood samples! when i telephoned first thing this morning ,i was told they had not got the results back yet maybe i could phone tomorrow !! i told them i was not happy with any of this ,& said i would try later ,maybe i was expecting too much but could they not have given this blood test priority ? i know that there are lots of other dogs to take care of ,but it was them that mixed them up ,also the vets bad handling of this & scaring the life out of us all ,i called again a little while ago ,& they had the results ,but still had not called me ! it seems that the poor dog who's tests were muddled with Lola's is in the last stages of Renal failure so although i am over the moon for Lola ,there is someone else out there who's dog is very ill,& i cried for this dog & relief for Lola , we have to wait for the testosterone test tomorrow, & if thats normal ,we have to look at her behavior ,any suggestions ? Once again many thanks for your help Regards Sue xx
The results are sent off to a lab to process, so the fault in the delay lies with the lab - not your vet - I have had this before and my vets just chase the lab until the results are back.
