I wish I was as organised. I haven't started buying the presents yet.

~This year our pudding will be rhubard & blackcurrant with port lattice pie with loads of fresh cream. Rhubard and blackcurrants in freezer from the garden harvest.

For starter, how about half small melons, de-seeded and filled with fruits, strawberry, rasberry, blueberry and red or blackcurrants with a sherry or port fruit syrup. I did this for a dinner party and it went down a treat. Quite expensive but worth it.

<<An all day breakfast Frittata (sp) with Bucks Fizz before a two hour walk with the hounds>>

Should that not read 'stagger with the hounds' ;)

Sounds like you are going to have a hectic but enjoyable day :D

How about large mushrooms stuffed with stilton breadcrumbs and chives. Or crabmeat coriander and spring onion is nice, topped with some cheese?? The other suggestion is to stuff them with Pate thats nice too.

Lucy, please can I come to you for Christmas dinner?  I love lamb and would much rather have that than turkey!!!  :D

Can't cook so I'm afraid I can't give you any suggestions, but what you have so far sounds delicious!  Have a great time.  :)

Pud ?

How about a Pavlova

It sounds lovely and i like all the port and so on! :D

For pudding on Christmas eve, are you intending to make or buy? As you will be pretty busy! I would suggest something fairly light - maybe a sort of make it in advance iced pudding or something?

Or, Delia makes a fantastic Cheats Chocolate Trifle with mascarpone, cherries, muffins, alcohol, etc (the mascarpone is mixed with melted chocolate...mmmm.. but maybe too much to make?!).

Liberty, the mushrooms with pate sounds nice :) Not stilton as I don't like that ! :D
Earl of course you can come round ! The more the merrier ! :D
Christine, the Pavlova sounds a good one ! :) Rasberry yum ! :D
Lindsey, one thing I didn't say is that even though I cook Mike my husband does most of the cooking as he loves to do it so he is the chef whilst I will be the hostess making sure all the guests are entertained and drinks are flowing ! :D The Delia one sounds good ! Is it in the Christmas one ?

No it's not in the Christmas one, but i think it is in her chocolate one, and also in one of her others...the more recent set. It's really nice if you like chocolate and cherries - they are bottled cherries and not always easy to get, but if not i am sure tinned would be fine ;)

You are making my mouth water with all this talk of food.

How about mackeral pate for starters? It's so easy to make and very tasty and healthy ;) I know mackeral isn't to everyones taste though.

I like Lindsays idea for pud, Its even given me a few ideas as I was going to do a very boozy trifle :D

Whatever you do, enjoy it ;)

Have a look in Tescos frozen section for their party food range for starters. We love the little rostis and mini pizzas. We also like bruschetas - diagonally slice a sandwich baguette, toast the wee slices with dobs of cheese and bits of pepper or bacon on em. Or you can try my Minibeast's suggestion for Christmas Dinner. We asked her for " special foods we dont have often" as ideas for Christmas dinner and with shining eyes, she cried " FISHFINGERS!" :D:D

How about some game to start? We are having Partridge to start, followed by Venison on Christmas day, (I won't tell the kids they will be eating Bambi!), and when my bf's parents come up we are having fillet of beef....yummy!!!

Avocado, goats cheese & tomato. Slice all the ingredients & layer them, so you have slice of avocado, slice of cheese then slice of tomato & drizzle it with dressing made of extra virgen olive oil & balsamic vinegar then sprinkle with sea salt & chopped basil. You can do them individual or on large platter buffet style :D
Christine, Spain.
