I have been a member of the Beta Breeders Programme  for quite a few years and have never had a problem with the product or the company.
However recently they have remarketed the product and the service is now not what it used to be.I used to get a puppy pack,an identity disc and a 3k bag if food to pass on to new owners plus a 20kg weaning bag of food. This used to arrive  when pups were 3-4 weeks old(providing I registered the litter within the first week after birth)
Well the stuff arrived yesterday.Dissapointed YES!! Only 1.5 kg bags to pass on to new owners, only 7.5kg sack for weaning but the most dissapointing thing is despite regestering the litter at 5 days old the stuff took 7 weeks to arrive.
I've had to buy in food in the meantime and frankly it's not good enough.OK so  I'm getting free food at the end of the day but I've alway upheld my end of the bargain...passing on names and addresses of new owners and recommending that they stick to the food etc etc.
I'm now seriously thinking of changing to another company.
Can anyone recommend a company with a good breeders programme.I know Pedigree do one and you get a bowl and vouchers to pass on but I'm not keen on pedigree advance.I bought a pup once that was reared on it and the poor thing always had constant  diarrhoea.
What or who do you use?

Id be interested in any replise you have, as i too am not happy, my sister has a litter and the same as you it took 7 weeks for the food to arrive theve changed althe stationary which miffed me as i found the old owner slips handy to keep so you had a record of everyones details in one place!
added to this the food seems to have changed the pupies wernt so keen and one puppy had the runs on it but when the new owner rang the advice line for help waas given nothing other the hard sell on the products!
I have a litter due at the end of jan (fingers crossed) and i am wanting to find a differnt food and puppy pack supplier. :)

My philosophy is : If it aint broke ,don't fix it!!
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old system.
You registered each bitch with them and then sent the slip for that bitch back to them when the pups arrived with details of the litter etc.
You had nice little forms to fill in with each new owners details and you got to keep a copy for your own records, and all the stationery came in a lovely plastic  folder for easy access.
Now you have some piddling little forms with more than one pups details on them, you have to ring to register the litter and then ring again 3 weeks later to find out what the delay is.etc etc.
I have spoken to several other breeders who have had a similar problem since they changed to to Purina breeders.
This is the second time they have changed as they also changed it when it went over to Friskies.
I wish they would make their minds up.
Anyway lets hope someone has a more reliable  company they can suggest.

For the past 2 years I have used the Arden Grange food and have been on thier breeders register. They were great with sending out the packs, it only took a week for them to come. In the puppy pack all you get is 1kg of food that will last about 3 days, a measuring cup and special offer order forms for the new owners. If the owners buy the food then Arden Grange give you a £3 discount on food that you order for your own dogs for each new owner that buys it.
Now although there isnt much in their puppy packs, the food is of extrememly high quality and good value and all of my puppies thrived on it and never once did they not want to eat, and for most gsd's that is great as they can be extremely picky eaters. The food is completely hypo allergenic so is also great for dogs with allergies as one of mine has.

I found it easier to buy the extra things that I wanted in the puppy pack like bowls, collar, leads, toys, bedding, book on the breed etc etc. I know this will cost more than getting one of the beta packs but at least you know that the food is of good quality.

Hope this helps, Arden Grange is the only company I have used for the puppy packs so I couldnt really comment on anything else

Surely your satisfaction with a food as being suitable for your pups to be reared on is far more important than any one off freebie which is soon gone.  I reared two of my litters on Beta, never bothered with the Breeder Club just bought a 3kg bag to give to each pup on leaving.

Satisfaction isn't really an issue when they don't deliver the food until the pups are almost ready to go.An they have changed the formula too

I dont think that is the real issue, the point being people have used the Beta and been satisfied with how they have reared there puppies on it (else they wouldnt use it) but suddenly without much warning they have changed the way the program is run and made changes to the actual food its self as puppy is no longer available it is now a puppy/junior combo and not as palatable, and my sister noted that although the puppies did ok with it she had to supliment it with cooked meat and they didnt seem to have that glow to thier coats they used to have!
im going to try my next litter with autarky the prospective mum is doing well with it, autarky dont do a official pupppy pack but i gave them a ring and they will send me out info leaflets and suppliers lists to give to the new owners.

Ah I see, well if you think the food is no longer suitable then obviously you are not going to recommend it to new owners I thought from the original message that you had wanted to recommend this food but was just unable to obtain the freebies.

Although you have to pay for Nutro puppy packs they are pretty good value, food, bowl, squeaky toy & a small bag (2kg) of the food you are feeding all supplied with a barrel bag too, £5 per pack.

James Wellbeloved do a good breeders programme - 3kg sacks of food for each puupy plus a feeding bowl and 'new puppy' guide/booklet/diary - the foods good too !

I used to reccomend the food before the formula was changed and was happy to do so  plus giving the new owners a 3kg bag of puppy food to go away with was an added bonus.
However as a previous poster stated, the food took so long to arrive I had to wean my pups on another food(beta wasn't available at my supplier) and when it did finally arrive  the pups turned their noses up so obviously didn't like it.The old formula was gobbled up in seconds and they were healthy well fed pups with gleaming coats.
I feel now I can't offer this to my new owners when they come to collect therefore there is no point in staying with the beta programme.Saying that though they have already provided me with the stuff and will expect me to pass on the new owners details whether I've used it or not.

BURNS ARE VERY GOOD 2.5KG bag and puppy pack and new owners get £5 discount off food and when they order 7.5 or 15kgs bag you get the same free
