I am looking for a white Golden Retriever puppy. This is solely for a pet, not show, etc.. I live in Dallas, and am unable to find anything. I have a white lab now who is super sweet and would love a brother or sister. Please give me any info you have concerning this.

   Just wondering if you have had any luck? I am looking for the same pup.

There is no such animal as a 'white' Golden Retriever, they range from dark gold to pale cream. Even a dog that may appear white will soon look like cream if seen standing in snow, or if you hold a piece of white paper next to the coat. If you contact any British breeders and request a 'white' Golden, you will probably not illicit a good response, please ask for a pale cream!

It's a very old thread, Michelle, but the AKC standard frowns on the pale colouring which is so popular over here.

When I was in the states the golden retrievers were the colour of red setters and 'English blonde' was frowned upon

Must admit I know nothing about retrievers but on a site I visit occasioally theres a list of dogs of each breed with piccys...there loads of GR's and most are rich golden/dark golden.Haven't found any VERY pale ones yet.
(If you want to look www.infodog.com ... click on bragging rights at bottom of page then on view dogs now.I find it very interesting to see the difference with many breeds over there compared to here)

I don't know if that is the going rate for a well bred pup in goldens in USA, but it is about that for onew of my breed so shouldn't be too far out.

My advice in order to avoid puppy mill bred stock and those from breeders who don't know or care what they are breedign with is to go through the AKC Website, find the National Breed club for Goldens, and that way the Regional club for your state.  they will be able to put yu in tocuh with reputable US breeders, but you will tend to find that in US they do not like the Light colour, though some are bound to turn up, especially with breeders who have used UK bloodlines.

To buy and Import a puppy from the UK would cost you easily double what you have saved.

White Golden Retrievers are unacceptable and deemed as a fault,therefore most good,careful sensible breeders breed within the acceptable colour range as required by the breed standard.As Snomaes correctly said a well bred pup may appaear white very little if bred correctly, will ALWAYS be pale cream when older.

The Standard clearly says a pure white coat like that of A Samoyed is incorrect.
Also the red/mahogoney colour of the irish red setter is also incorrect.

The range of colour is from cream to dark gold.

Just  out of interest the  American standard calls for rich,lustrouus various shades of golden.Feathering maybe lighter than rest of coat.
Predominant body colour extremely pale or dark is undesireable.

There are many excellent breeders of both beautiful pale cream dogs in our country as well as more golden shades.
Hope you find what your looking for :-) and hope for the good of the breed its not a "white" pup  just my opinion.
