When my GSP came into season a few weeks ago I had 3 ovulation tests carried out before I had her mated.  The vet advised that she was ready and when the best days were for the mating to be carried out.  I had her mated twice over a 3 day period and then sat and waited.  She never conceived and as far as I'm aware never absorbed.  I'm now wondering what the cause could be.  She never went through any visable changes and I'm now wondering if she could be infertile and if theres anything that I could do next time round in preparation before a mating is carried out such as tests done by the vet?? please help

If the stud dog is close to home, then I say forget the ovulation tests and let the dog tell you when she's ready.  I had my bitch premate tested 3 times the last result saying not ready retest in 3 - 6 days.  I thought she was ready on the day they said not, so we took her to stud and had a 20 minute tie, same again 48 hours later.  She has had 7 pups and all so say conceived possibly 6 days before she ovulated????  I don't think!!

I'm confused, you say she came into season a few weeks ago & isn't in whelp. How do you know so soon?
Anyway, I agree with Sharon - Premate isn't always right and sometimes bitches miss for no apparent reason, but get in whelp with no problem subsequently.
