I havent stopped asking for help with Rosie, honestly at the moment it seems like one thing after the other!!!

For the last two weeks she has been a nervous wreck when Im not at home. My partner says she won't go out for walks she will run and hide and shake uncontrollably as if she is petrified. She won't eat, she'll vomit and my other half will call me worrying about her behaviour...

When I get home from work she is fine...??????? She lets me walk her, she'll eat and the shaking stops...

She isnt afraid of my partner as when Im there she is all over him but as soon as Im not around she is in bits????

Ive told OH not to mollycoddle her too much as this will reinstate the behaviour as she will see it as a way of getting attention....

Any suggestions what we can do and why she might be acting like this..or has anyone experienced the same??

Thanks xxxx

I have an 8mth old Staffie and havent had this problem. Is is possible that she has had a bad experience while out with your Husband? Could you ask him to think,Staffs are so sensitive it could be something really minor that he hasnt thought of before. Perhaps something has frightened her and now she associates these activities with that fear.let us know

sorry somethingelse I just thought of. I have read that some Staffs experience 'separation'anxiety,I'm no expert and havent got any experience in this field as I say we dont have this problem with Giorgia but perhaps the net can bring some info up on this.

Hi when you say

My partner says she won't go out for walks she will run and hide and shake uncontrollably as if she is petrified. She won't eat, she'll vomit and my other half will call me worrying about her behaviour...

What does he do? for instance will she not let him put the lead on by hiding? or growling or just cowering down? can he get the lead on?

And when you say she won't eat? but but vomits - does she vomit as soon as the food is put down? or does she ignore the food or is she scoffing the food down then vomitting????

Sorry so many questions but Staffords aren't that sensitive a breed of dog?

Can I ask I am sorry if you have already said but how long have you had her did you get her from a breeder? what are her litter mates like? was she the "weakest/bottom" pup what i her interaction with people like when you are there? does it iffer if you are in the house but not in the same room???

I agree it would help if you can give us some more information on exactly what does happen when she is like this.

On the surface it may be that outside she has been scared by something and that because she is so scared to go out, she may be associating your partner with trying to get her to go out, plus she could be stressed (which she is ) so that could explain the vomiting. It could also be that there is a medical condition causing these problems.

To be honest since we have had her 5mths we have had nothing but problems with her health wise, she is in out of the vets at least once per month with vomiting, bum scooting, you name it.
She was actually the strongest in the litter and was the first to come home although she was and still is very small.
We got her from a breeder with all papers etc and she is from a very good lineage

She goes from one extreme to the other in terms of one minute she is bullying Ron the older Staffy (he is 7mths) and then she is a quivering wreak the next.

When my partner tries to put her on the lead she runs and hides and shakes, if I do it she shakes alittle sometimes but then is fine.
I think she just may be nuerotic....if she was human I would say its PMT or something!!!

When I am around she is normal.....and if Im around she will let my partner take her out?!?!?!?!?

Very very weird dog!

>>>When my partner tries to put her on the lead she runs and hides and shakes<<<

Does he get upset or shout at her when she does this ? Or has he done it in the past ?

Something is wrong because this isn't normal behaviour. You do need to visit the vet to start :)

Yes, I agree this isn't normal behaviour.  But she's lucky to have such a caring owner like you and I hope you get to the bottom of it.

Hi

Well I have to say I had a staff who "shook" Sam he was perfectly healthy but did when very very excited sort of tremble - I've seen other staffs do it too. But I'd never call it shake.

It seems odd not normal Staff behaviour at all. They are normally "full on" especially at that age. Lel's question is a valid/good one what does your boyfriend do?

I don't suppose its the lead is it she doesn't like? ie is it a chain one he rattles when walking? just a thought you may try changing her collar and lead and seeing if that makes any difference? She may be scared for some reason of the lead or the collar uncomfortable?

Has her breeder offered any advice?

Karen
