I recently rang a local GSD Breeder to ask him what he had available and what were the hip scores of the parents. His reply was "I don't bother with that lot, I've fell out with them" . He apparantly x-rays at 12 months and if everything looks o.k will breed from them. He then blinded me with science over german A stamp? (I'm not well up on these things). He breeds about 16 litters a year and has around 40-50 adults. Is there no law that a mass breeder has to hip-score? Oh by the way I have no intention of buying a puppy from him I am currently trying to collate info to pass on to the local authority as the R.S.P.C.A are a waste of space. His licence allows him to breed 7 litters a year!

No that is the sad thing. I feel strongly that all breeders should avail thenselves of any health schemes availaable for testing their breeding stock. This is even more important with the mass producers.

How often do you here the vets always saying how bad such and such a breed is for this thing or that, I bet an awful lot of the ones they see are from the mass producers that do not seem to care a bout the quality and health of thier PRODUCT, and also if they get any flack, they can always replace with another puppy!

That is terrible, how on earth can he care for so many dogs properley?:(
Good for you though trying to do something about it, most people would just walk away and forget saying that it's none of their business.
good luck
