Early hours Fri morning while out delivering milk I found a hegdehog. He was just sat there I went up to it slowly and it didnt move I touched it and found it was alive. I went away to see if it would move while alone went back and it was still there. I couldnt leave the poor thing out on such a cold night. I fetched it home put it in a box with hay and some cat food. Next morning I thought it would be dead. No it wasnt and all the cat food had gone. It is currently in a rabbit hutch with lots of hay and Iam feeding it cat food daily which he is eating. The rspca havent been very helpfull. Someone as told me of a hedgehog rescue but Im just waiting on the number so I can phone them. I know its not wise or fair to keep a wild animal but I wouldnt have forgiven myself if I just left it. I just want to do what I think best for it. Any advice will be great Many thanks.
I used to foster hedgehogs for our local wildlife rescue. They would take in the ones which were too small to hiberbate, keep them throughout the cold spell then release them when the weather warmed up. I hope it all goes ok :)
