Did anyone watch this on TV last week. If not if you do get chance to watch it in the future do so.
I found it very intresting how they go about things. How the alpha will pick 1 bitch to mate with and no other pair breed. When the pups are a around 2 week old the mother will leave them for a short while while they have this older female who will take care of them like a nanny.
They also have a rtanking and I did feel so sorry for the lowest in the pack.

Was this the Discovery one from a few years ago where they were eventually released onto an Indian reserve?

Great documentary. The wolves were captive wolves really and not from a real family pack born and bred.

I think we saw the same program and yes i felt very sorry for the Omega of the pack too, but like the narrator said the omega has no choice but to accept his treatment as life outside the pack would be tougher. I couldnt understand why its nesscary to treat the omega as such. They seem to see him as useless and just a waste of space. Good show, and a interesting view on how a wild pack behaves.

The Omega doesn't have too bad a life, as his role is so important to the balance of the pack, he does get some preferential treatment ;)

I watched it too, and felt sorry for the omega. Very interesting program.
