my bitch has started to be funny with all dogs. she was never would play with any breed in the 1st place.  She would run a mile if a dog came up to her. but now if she sees a dogs she stands there and barks with her fur up. and when it gets really close she throws her self at it and trys to nip it.  Of course i do put her on the lead if i see a dog but if the dog just appiers from now were and i cant get her this is what happens. Her recall is very good but not if i see a dog. I put a miki muzzle on her yesterday but we didnt see any dogs!!! on our walk

Can you pinpoint when this started.  Had she been well socialised with other dogs as a puppy?

i got her when she was 9 months old and she was fine for about a year then about year ago it started. we didnt see many dogs for a long time as my sister has horses and we used to go tothe yard every day were she played with my sisters dogs. so its been gong on for about a year didnt relise its been going on that long.

If using a muzzle,  would get her used to a baskerville muzzle, as the cloth ones (Mikki) are really only for short term use as they restrict panting. So not advisable for walks etc :)

What do you do when she approaches other dogs?  She may be linking the lack of freedom with the proximity of the approaching dog......

just been out for a walk, where i walk is the downs so you can see a long way ahead unless im wlaking though the woods.  When other dogs are getting nearer i put her on the lead and she walks happy next to me 80% of the time she wont bark.  on our walk today i put the muzzle on her  as i saw a dog getting nearer. She didnt charge off like she used to. we both walked past each other and she looked at the other dog and didnt go for it. she let the dog sniff her. you could see by the way she was standing she didnt like it. it was a very quick hello. if we were to stand there for bit longer think she would have went for it. she was off the lead all the time. took her muzzle off and gave her a treat and didnt meet any more dogs.
