I'm just curious about my dog's behavior when the gate is accidently left open on the stairs when everybody's out. I know he tries out all the beds (including mine) and always leaves a toy or two on every bed except mine. Is this significant? Is he trying to tell everyone else 'hey look, I can go wherever I want and just want to let you know' but not daring to tell me he's been on mine? Or am I just reading too much into it? It's not so much a problem, but I'd be interested to see what you guys have to say

I think they try it on to see what they can get away with. Copper is allowed on our bed but only at the bottom end, however, he always jumps on and goes straight up to the pillow end at OH's side - never my side. He knows he's going to have to move but he does it every time. If we're out he probably gets right in there, covers up to the chin :D

hee hee  :-D  He does the same with the sofa come to think of it. He's not allowed on it, but when we're out he'll comfortably curl up, but not on 'my' spot. I used to be little hurt that he chose to sleep on my OH's scent rather than my own, especially as he did nothing with him!. Again, he'll sometimes leave his toys (not on MY bit) but this obviously isn't as much fun as taking them all upstairs and spreading them round the beds as he doesn't do it so often   :-)

lol! when we are out nell sleeps on the dining room table! all of mine are alowed on the beds & sofas so i guess she wants a new challenge!

My Reggie tries to do the dining room table thing too!! He's only 15 wks & a border terrier so as he's tiny weeny all the things we didn't want chewed/ripped to shreds went up there - out of reach, or so we thought!
Couldn't believe my eyes! I think he realised just from my expression that I wasn't impressed!
I moved everything & now it's not fun going up there - I'm sure he thinks I'm such a spoil-sport mummy!

Willis LOVES sleeping on our bed :rolleyes: We have a gate at the bottom of the stairs tied with rope (he can open normal baby gates) and when I opened it this morning he was waiting to go up. Mum grabbed him by the collar, I opened the gate, he took off and dragged mum up the stairs face down. Carpet burn :D :D  He's been up there since, snoring LOL

My shih-tzu always sleeps in our bed - I wouldn't have it anyway :o)
She's just like a real life teddy bear and cuddly hot water bottle!  I think they just love comfort and take every opportunity to enjoy it!

Mmm somebody left the stair gate open this morning and I had two chocolate monsters come and give me an early morning wake up call :rolleyes: :D

I was thinking of this thread on Saturday, Millie sleeps in our room at night anyway, sometimes on the bed if she fancies as she is allowed (although I'm not always impressed when I wake up in the morning and find she has sneaked up in between us and settled down with her head on my pillow!) but never sneaks up there during the day - when i go out she won't even go in the living room, she remains firmly positioned in the hall in front of the front door on sentry duty at all times (must point out to her at some point that sentries are supposed to stay awake though).

Anyway, Saturday afternoon I was cleaning the kitchen, and walked through downstairs to find my ciggies and noticed the dog wasn't where I thought she was...traced my steps back to the kitchen, no dog.

So I went upstairs and there she was fast asleep on my bed

So I'm convinced that its not a case of "who's been sleeping in my bed" but rather "who's been surfing the net on my computer and picking up tips from Champdogs...." :-D
