Just after a bit of advice on a refund if anyone has any?
I ordered a mobile phone on Sunday from Virgin website and was informed it would be next day delivery. Monday comes and no phone- give them a little leeway on this as it was a Sunday afterall when I first ordered it. Tuesday comes and again no phone. Contact them to be told it must be in the couriers depot somewhere and they will do a night search. Wednesday still no phone and no phone call to let me know what was happening either- although they had promised to. Late Wednesday afternoon they promise immediate delivery of a replacement in the morning (today).
Surprise surprise no delivery- rang AGAIN to be told they had tried to deliver earlier but no one was in ( we were).
Anyway to cut a long story short I cancelled the order and asked for an Immediate refund only to be told it will take 7-10 working days!!! That takes me right up to Christmas itself and there will be no stock left in the shops then ! Told them i wasnt happy and want an immediate refund as they were ok taking the money OUT immediately. They wont budge - I am sending  a letter of complaint, asked to speak to manager etc but still no joy.
Anyone recommend anything else to get my money back without waiting so long. Its a matter of principle now. Supposing I didnt have the money to get another in the meantime ?

Have you spoken to your local trading standards office lel,  I always find them very helpful, with advice if nothing else.

Have you tried ringing your credit card company to stop the payment.  If they haven't got a signature I think you can do that.  How long it takes to come back on your card I don't know, but it might be worth asking.

We are still having a similar problem with Sky, been going on for months despite every time we phone them they tell us it will be refunded to the card in ten days.  They also took the payment off immediately.

Hi.

This happened to me with another company. You need to return the phone within 7 days as you have a seven day cooling off period on anything you order by phone, just send it recorded delivery with a covering letter.

Hope this helps.

Dont you get fed up with poor service :(
I have ordered lots over the internet and never ahd any problems either - you would think a company as big as Virgin would get their act together

Lel, it may be an idea to contact your local citizens advice bureau. :)

Hi,

As an internet retailer myself i can tell you that it is infact trading standards who impose the limit on refunds. Standard is 30 days so if they are saying 7-10 thats actually very good. In real time refunds are often made within a day or two once various departments have given their go ahead (refunds require permission from authorised personell)

If you have payed on a card as far as i am aware you can not stop the payment, you could call your bank to see if the actual transfer can be cancelled however i doubt they would be willing to do this.

Its no comfort i know and its especially not good for business owners like myself who strive to make online shopping easy and hastle free however terms and conditions apply to everything, its a case of being aware and informed before you buy from said company.

Good luck with your refund and all else fails, bug the hell out of them everyday - someone will get fed up of you calling and rush your refund lol!
