My boy puppy (!) at 14 months stands a good 2" higher than his mum. I have just measured them both and she is 22", he is 24". He is generally a big boy and his head is markedly bigger than hers. I believe this is bigger than the breed standard. Is he likely to grow much more now? At least it's getting easier to tell them apart...apart from the obvious way! :) :) :)

The standard says 21 1/2 to 22 inches for bitches and 22 to 22 1/2 for dogs, so yes he is over standard, and his Mum is pretty much top height.  I wouldn't think he would get any tallelr now, just fill out and mature.

Again his height is only one fault, and I don't know how heavily this is penalised in the breed ring or working cirlces, as obviously ttoo much over and under is likely to impact not only on breed type but functional efficiency for the work they are required to do.

Not a problem as the only work he is required to do is be our much loved family dog! He just looks so enormous next to his mum, though! :) :) :)

We're going to see his litter brother at Hearing dogs for the deaf on Tuesday, so it will be interesting to see if he's as big. We recently had a visit from his chocolate sister, and she's about the same size as her (black) mum. I gather the chocolate boy is pretty huge, though.
The only trouble with Luke being such a big boy is that he thinks he's an Andrex puppy - he's developed more of a fascination for loo rolls now than when he was younger. It's just funny seeing this great big dog unravelling the loo roll with great gusto! I can't believe that a year ago tomorrow I carried my cute little puppy to the vet's for his first vaccinations....sigh...
