Still dogless. Robbie was a lovely fellow who found himself a fantastic home with a lovely family who visited him 2 weeks ago but had to put off taking him home due to moving house. I enjoyed seeing their little lads playing ball with him. We met 2 8 month pups, completely wild and liked one. Took him for a walk, and he slipped out of his harness and bolted for the shelter - along a path used by vehichles, exit Lorelei snivelling. Im not ready for another dog. When the pups came in I just felt detached from them, and when the wee fella escaped my heart went into my mouth. It was a shame as he has loads of character and will be a lovely big dog. We'll wait till after Christmas now.

You'll know when the right one comes along Lorelei.
Best wishes, John

The time is not yet right, Lorelei. But it will be one day, never fear.
:)
Give yourself some time and space Lorelei - the right dog will choose you when you are ready.

I know where you are coming from Lorelei & when you are ready the right dog will come along & be all the better for waiting for.
I have lost three dogs in 18 months & when I lost the last one I thought I could never own another BC however now I am now looking forward to getting my new puppy sometime next year-he might already have been born, but I will know when I see him, just like I did when I chose my puppy from a friends litter after I lost my trialling dog, I saw my puppy at three days old & chose him there & then I just knew he was for me & later it was spooky whenever i popped round to see the litter after their eyes had opened & they were aware of their surrounding he came running to me without being called. he never did it to anyoe else & his breeder thought he was a shy puppy he wasn't he knew he was mine so never bothered with anyone else.
Your dog is out there somewhere & you will find him/her

Some things are meant to be Lorelei, and you
will eventually find the right dog, when the time is right for you, try to have a lovely christmas and look to the future xxx :) :)
Thank you all for your kind replies. Its nice to have my gut instinct confirmed. Funnily enough I dreamed about dogs last night. Minibeast and I were walking down a river path when a curly coated Gordon Setter trotted past us round the corner then stood in the path looking around. When we caught up with him, there were 2 GRs on the path and then I fell down the bank and was trying to climb up when I woke....Definitely wait till after Christmas!

Lorelei,
I wondered if a LM rescue might be the thing for you? I know you like the breed and young adults - most due to no fault of the dog -occasionally come into rescue, the bitches will be spayed before they leave too.

yep hes just not the right one you will know straight away when you find one :P you might find after christmas there will be lots more to go visit :( hope you find the right one soon :)
Hi Christine, I told himself he could have an LM IF he arranged to spend a day with Uncle Stuart up the road ( u know who I mean!) and if he wasnt demented by the end of the day, we'd consider an LM. We both love em. A teenage LM would be an interesting challenge, no doubt youd soon find that your gaff is within speeding distance of us! Once Silverback has arranged his visits, Id definitely be happy to look at a rescue one.
Weren't you thinking about a Gordon setter at one point? They look like lovely dogs too.

I will vouch for Gordons. They are very lovely dogs and if you are after a challenge you won't go far wrong with a Gordon. I thought I was prepared for one as I already had experience with Irish but I got quite a shock. Wouldn't change her for the world though as she is such a loving girl. Maybe you could look into rescuing a Gordon. I have the details of the United Gordon Setter Rescue if you are interested. I'm sure your perfect dog will find you as other have said. I wish you luck in your search.

Now who would he be demented with? The Munsters or Uncle Stuart???? ;) If you see Ferdi, give him a big hug!
