Hi! King Charles Spaniels are quite an unusual breed, so your best bet is to contact the Breed Clubs listed at the bottom of the Breed Standard.

Without a doubt, the best person to ask is the breeder of your bitch. You will also need to have the bitch eye tested by a BVA/KC panelist vet. As well as that heart testing is neccessary in Cavaliers, so you need to find a Cardiologist vet.

Dawn, are King Charles Spaniels prone to heart trouble as well as Cavaliers then? Guest, the breed clubs will be able to advise what health testing your bitch will need.

Hi JG Iwas assuming, perhaps wrongly, that this Susanne was the same person as the one asking tha same question in the post entitled 'Breeding from your bitch'. She said Cavalier in the first post.:)

That's the problem with anonymous 'guest' posts, isn't it? You never know if you're responding to a repeat post that's been differently worded! (But having had my wrist slapped in the past for pointing out that the two breeds are different, I now reply on the premiss that the poster knows what breed they have! ;) )
