At what age can i change my dog de bordeaux bitch onto adult food, she is almost 7 months now and she has had a lot of problems with her feeding, i finally managed to get her on Beta puppy chicken and rice and chicken mince and she is great. It does say on the side of the packet to not change till at least 18 months, but most people i have spoken to said they have their dogs on adult by 7 months. What does anybody think, should i change her. Im going to the petstore tonite and want to know what i should buy for her.

I changed my ddb at 12 months, my breeder did say not to until 18 months but i was finding it was not enough for her so i did do it gradually. Remember to mix the adult food with the puppy food or she could get the run very badly. Sinse putting her on adult food she has filled out lovely and is not starving all the time.

A lot of people in fact say puppy food is not neccessary at all, its just another thing for food companies to put out. Either way puppies will grow and in some cases it can be unbalanced and cause puppies. especially large breeds, to grow too quickly and for the bones to not form properly. My GSD is 6 months now and has been on adult food for about a month, a lot of people say from 4 months ondwards to advisable. Taz weighs 30kgs right now and is in great shape and loves his Burns food, but its all upto there are different opinions on so many things nowadays its better to use your own judgement ont he matter of feeding your bitch.
