I have two large breed dogs (Mal & Sibe). At the moment I have to stake them out when they are outside due to the fact that we have no defined garden (we have part of a field as a garden and it is shared with our neighbours) Neither us or our neighbours mind dogs being anywhere on the garden but at the end of the track leading up to our house is a busy road - so obviously our dogs cannot be allowed to roam the garden loose. We cannot fence it in either as the property is rented. Both our dogs get two long walks per day, once in the morning and again in the evening. They only get staked out for short periods at a time - mostly to go to the toilet but sometimes if they are bored in the house and want to go out then we put them out (they go out and snooze under the tree).
I am looking at purchasing a kennel and run for them - now they are 100% house pets and would not be left outside when we were out - it would only be for them to go out in during the day (and then only for short periods). The run I have seen is 10ft by 15ft - would this be too small? What is the standard size for a run?
At the moment they are on 15ft cables (which gives them a total area of 30ft to roam around in, each has their own separate area to roam in so the cables can't become tangled) - which is why I thought the run size I stated would be a bit small - they would still get their two walks a day. Also could anyone recommend any good companies who sell kennels and runs.
I'll be grateful for your replies.
