JG Sorry to hear that you yourself had been knocked down by a car. This car was a proper driving school car, but don't know whether it had dual controls or not,(obviously not) I don't think it's a local one but have seen it about before, will watch out for him. But if that's the conduct of a particular instructor, it's not setting a very good example to the pupils, hence perhaps the way some people drive about. Have also seen a wife driving motoring school car with children on the back seat not wearing seat belts????

It gets me unbelievably angry that people could risk children like that. There's no excuse for it nowadays.

Yes, I was very lucky (if you see what I mean!) when I was knocked down. Fortunately I and the three dogs with me had only bruises and minor cuts, and were very shaken, but the car was written off (haha! I was tougher than a metro!!).

I think the riders around here must know my car as I am ultra careful keeping well back & driving sreadily on the other side of the road when safe & not pulling in front until a good distance past any horses(& there are a lot around here as we have a livery just up the road)We always nod & smile at each other if we are travelling in opposite direct to each other & if the road is very narrow(a lot is almost single track) I always wait until the horses go pass as per the highway code horses & riders have right of way !

I live in the south and the riders in my village are always very polite, we have a couple of studs and a big riding school so you can guarantee you will always come accross horses and riders when out.  I always drop back to give them space and wait until I am waved on and then over take slowly, and im always thanked.  In fact when im out walking Fagan I make him sit when we see a horse because he gets over excited and barks and I even get a nod of thanks for this when they pass .......... so they arent all rude in the south ;)

you should only shoot when you are 100% sure of hitting the fox either in the head or the vital organs.if in doubt dont shoot .especially when lamping.
my husband has guns .rifles ect and he has never fired when his aim was in doubt.

Ive lived in the south . the highlands and midlands . I hope you ment just once place because the riders i used to meet in showjumping comps were all very friendly and polite they came from all over .
Drivers can be very rude  but yes you do get idiots who ride two a breast who are good riders .
You get bad in everything .
 

i used to work in a riding school/treking yard. i remeber once a car reved up freds bum (fell pony) & he sat on their bonnet & broke the windscreen! so please be patient

my mare was brill in traffic,but scared of leaves & drains etc,so id NEVER take my hands off of the reins to wave a thank you,but would always nod in thanks. she was a special case though & was fine with cars whizzing opast on 60mph roads,but was worse if they came past slowly (more time for her to be stupid! ;))
