My pup has a habit of licking everything in sight. He has a bad stain on his leg through this, but I am at a loss as to what to do to remedy the situation. I have tried anti-bite spray but he still licks at it. I know it can be caused by stress etc but fail to see how that can be the cause here. Even when he is sitting on our lap in the evening he is constantly licking at things. It is not always his leg, often it is our hands/legs/faces - any thing he can lick he will (even clothing and hair) - he also licks the furniture, carpet and walls. Our other dog is sometimes soaking where he has been licking at them all the time.
He had problems when he was younger and as such had numerous tests done on him - this would have shown up any deficiencies, so this is also not the cause - he is fed on a complete diet (naturediet) so his diet shouldn't be lacking. I am going to change him over to BARF in the next couple of months, but was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this situation. Also if anyone can suggest anything which I can put on his leg to stop him licking at it - I have tried Bitter apple and numerous chew deterrents, none of which have worked. Also is there a complimentary food substance which is supposed to reduce the staining caused by saliva - I thought I may have read something like this but I'm not sure.
Thank you for your help.
