I realize that it is "faux pas" to talk about mixed breeds in the pedigree world but we knew a family who had a Weimaraner/Lab mix from two pedigree parents and the dog was AMAZING! It had all positive qualities in it's long 14 year life and was wondering if anyone might specialize in this mix or a breeder who may have a Weimaraner which had a late night visit with the Lab next door!!

It is not that anyone has a problem with non pedigree dogs...just the deliberate breeding of them in order to make money.
As for your families old dog....no one can recreate him unfortunately.By crossing 2 breeds you take pot luck as to which genes are inherited....the next one may have all the bad bits of both!

You could try a rescue center? im sure there are a few lab crosses there :)
I dont have a problem with crossbreeds, accidents happen, the resulting pups can be stunning, but when people start crossing them a sticking a 'rare' label on them, that becomes wrong!

Its highly unlikly you will get the same dog again! you may well get all the bad qualities of both breeds mixed in to one big bouncy boisterous dog!

there was a litter in this area a few years ago.  i saw one qiute a few times,& to me it looked like a poorly bred Weim. it was a sweet dog though ,but quite a handful. ive not seen another litter advertised ,so i guess it was just a mistake.
