What do other offices do about Christmas Decorations? We all got emailed on Friday about the Big Day for decking our workspace with glitter, then found we had to bring or buy em. As Ive just forked out for an Advent Calendar for the homesick Antipodean clerks, I feel Ive done my bit. So our desks look spare and bare apart from Mr Snowman Christmas Counter on the wall.

Think I've got to put up the office Christmas tree today - paid for (out of someone's expenses) 2 years ago - IF I can find where it was stashed when we moved offices in September  and thenI also have to book the electrician to check that the lights are okay before we plug them in (that's if I can find  spare plug within 3 ft of the said tree)......

Had the first Christmas lunch on Friday (and I'd forgotten about it, so I drove to the station) - there was champagne flowing, but I couldn't drink - but I did win a bottle of champers which came home with me - it's in the fridge at the moment, just waiting for me :D    This lunch was actually laid on by Lloyds, to thank PA's for our hard work during the year - which was quite nice!

As a department we all chip in for christmas decs, usually every year because they seem to go missing

All my christmas parties start next week, where as Fagan has one tonight and one next week

..maybe it's because they don't celebrate the birth of X

No - it's because no-one dare ask :) We're all too busy working to spend time putting them up anyway ;)

Thanks gals - the holiday was absolutely wonderful - temperature comfortable -  mid 70s - bright sunshine every day :D!

We crammed a lot in - starting with a Quiz night on the evening that we arrived (brains couldn't have been too scrambled as we contributed some answers to the winning team and therefore earned free beer/puddings) - went to Macau for the weekend  - Formula 3 Grand Prix & Casino - how the other half live :D :D ) - managed to trip up and crashed down on the marble stairs of a hotel which daughter & I were checking out for lunch - so NO alcohol was involved :D - I finished up with bruised leg, elbow & cracked ribs - plus a wonderful multi-coloured face - looked like the map of South America down the side of my face - I'm telling everyone I really enjoyed my trip to Macau - but it didn't stop me enjoying the rest of the holiday - just soaked in the hot tub instead of swimming - lots of shopping, sight-seeing (Shen Zhan in China is just out of this world) - horse racing at Happy Valley - Thanksgiving Dinner with American friends, theatre, more dinners - but now - back to reality!!!

Only trouble is, brusing is still showing on my face so I have to allow an extra 10 mins in the morning to put on the "warpaint" to hide the worst excesses!!!

Office Christmas tree about to go up - home decorations go up this weekend - for our Nik's birthday!!

Oww! Flip flops and marble dont mix! Oww! Glad the rest of the holiday went well, Margot and I did have a laugh at "Strict" Nick :) My boss must have been lurking on this board as he went out and BOUGHT decorations for the office, then Clever Trevor found the Christmas tree. Mmm finding the oldest Housing Officer in the team making paper snowflakes while on the phone must have concentrated minds! :D

Now this is one of the benefits of working in a school! Lovely big tree donated by a local company, tonnes of decorations made by the kids and cards in every orifice!
